Did you have the freedom to choose your religion or was it forced upon you? Not that you're that religious of course.

Appreciate that you find my words describing separatist peasants distasteful, ummah requires it of course. I find (Islamic) terrorism and the murder of innocent civilians by their own countrymen a little distasteful too, but what can you do about it?

Behead them I say - especially those bloody splitters!
I certainly had that freedom to believe what I wanted Suresh. My school also made sure that we understood other religions in a totally fair manner and we were left to make up our own minds. Exactly as it should be.

Tell that to all the sunni/shi-ite muslims and protestant/catholic christians that have slaughtered each other in their thousands over the years.

It's not that it's religions fault, it's just natural human tribalism, but religions are the biggest 'tribes' and cause the most misery.......

Your second statement completely encapsulates the cause of the vast majority of the troubles across the globe. It is the petty and destructive nature of man (and sometimes woman) that causes conflict and misery. Religion is but an excuse. Another example of tribalism is football. Blokes who nomally would get on like a house on fire, would happily kick seven shades of **** out of one another simply because of team allegiance.

I never thought Id see the day when I agreed with anything Gatty said but after reading this...

Chairman Dr Mohammed Naseem said Muslims felt "persecuted unjustly" by the government for political ends but urged them to control their anger.
How exactly are they being unjustly persecuted? Its like claiming teenagers are persecuted becaue they cant wear their hoodies in a shop.

cause & consquence yes?

He said some in the community resented the way the raids were carried out and opposed laws allowing terror suspects to be held for up to 28 days without charge.
Hmmmm... the raids were (I believe) carried out in the same way the police carry out every raid... what did they want a three day alarm call?

And what exactly is the problem with trying to protect a country against terrorism unless you're the one.......

Speaking outside the mosque, he said the arrests were an example of the government justifying its political agenda.
I thought they were an example of the police doing their job, silly me

"They have invented this perception of a threat," he said. "To justify that, they have to maintain incidents to prove something is going on.
No, the real theat was created on 11/09 and 07/07

And now....

Some 5,000 leaflets translated from English into Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali and Urdu have been handed out explaining the operation and appealing for patience.

No wonder the Police dont have the resources to deal with little piddly things like burglaries and car theft...

You are absolutely right Geezer, the religions don't teach people to go and murder each other in the name of their name. It is as ever down to people with an eye to the main chance and using whatever is convenient to do it with. Politicians are often very similar with their actions and the way they use a situation.

But I see your point! Through the jaded world of the New World Order media system, terrorism and Muslims seem inextricably linked.....
