I think they should bring it back I had far more green than red, quite amusing to know that one's efforts are appreciated.
On the quiet, I'm quite sad to see it go. I'd just sneaked past the 50 mark despite a volley of early reds.

Incorrect. It was illuminating to find out that so many people agree with some of the things I say.

Very valid points there

It takes a few mouse clicks to enable the ability for everyone to see who is leaving reputation. There isn't an option to show only who left neg rep, but I don't see a problem in seeing who left good/bad rep anyway.

The options regarding how the reputation power is calulated could also have been tweaked to keep things at a sensible option.

As for dealing with those whose reputation becomes negative, again, a "promotion" that would automatically move users to another, more restrictive, usergroup if they had ? -1 reputation is very very simple to setup.

Another step would be to have newbies unable to give out reputation until they become regular users. This can also be done via a "promotion", criteria being reputation points, time registered and number of posts, and whether it's less than, or equal or greater than any or all of those criteria.

If a troll re-registers and it's obvious they are a troll neg rep them, they hit the -1 limit and are banned/can't post/whatever you set the permissions on the group to allow.

That's not a perfect system, there are some flaws, but it would at least have an automatic element to it, which was lacking in what was set up.

I am curious to know what, if anything will be put in the place of reputation.

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead. About time too.

That's going to screw a few people's tiny meaningless existences up on here.

there is a flaw in your suggestions.................if you could see who neg repped you then you would just do it back and neg rep them as well. the system would still end up in the bin

As said, there are some flaws there. I gave negative reputation to someone if I saw them being troll like or abusive. I didn't give it just for the sake of it, or to be petty.

Interesting to note that as yet there hasn't been any feedback from Shaun/Simon as to what they thought of the system and what, if anything they are going to do to deal with the trolls, which was, I think, one of the reasons for enabling the reputation system.

I didnt bother returning neg reps. Id return a pos rep though. Didnt see the point in neg repping someone just out of spite although 2 certain users on here did get bad rep from me whenever possible

Always had it signed off aswell.

The thing that screwed it was it's abuse by people that ought to know better. Shark Man made a prudent observation early doors...
