White classic WRX STi (I think) coming up Beauchamp Hill this morning. Woke me up, as I was daydreaming looking for a car park space, in the drizzle...

Oh, and there's an unmarked Porsche Caymen in the area by the looks of things - was at a crash on the M40 north this morning, with some bolt on roof-lights and the headlights on alternate flashing mode...

Silver one - couldn't see the reg.

It was indeed...... just dropping the car off at API for it's MOT.

Unfortunately when I picked the car up from David it didnt look as clean as the picture above. Looks like he went grass tracking in it on the way to the MOT station.

Shaun,

As far as I know there is only a BP and a Total in Southam...........
You didn't put in Total SUL did you - no wonder it was dirty David probably had to find the nearest Shell station before the MOT after having a heart attack watching the knocklink !!

David - just fit a massive brush to the front of his car next time, to clean the country roads as it goes along, to save it getting a bit dirty...

One advantage of a green car - looks clean even when it's not.

Makes no odd's to me..... I have multiple fuel maps at a flick of a switch! Currently selectable from either VPower or normal SUL. At this sort of power level, you don't notice that much of a difference between the two maps anyhow.

Anyway..... I wasn't putting petrol in, as I was just picking up a can of Redbull.

David,
That car should of been fully waxed and washed...... especially whilst I still have the Webmaster account!!!

Default ********WARNING********

I had a bit of fun yesterday, logged onto my bank account to find I had made 6 cash withdrawals in Australia whilst sun bathing in Leamington Spa!

My bank card had been scammed........and the suspects are several but one might be worth a thought.......

SHELL GARAGE top of Leamingon Spa high street. I WOULD NOT USE A BANK CARD if I needed the V Power.

Someone 'might' be watching them already.....

One might suspect someone is selling card details or the card machine is rigged to copy details for card cloning.

Of course it could all be b*ll*cks and it might be considered unfair to implicate them in any way, which of course I am not. They are lovely people.

look at the camera over the counter and the Ivory coast employee taking your card transactions....make your own mind up.

I will be buying from Shell Hatton only.

You have been warned!

Havent Shell in Leam been involved in something similar before I seem to remember? Either dodgy card systems in store, or on the cashpoint outside. Can't really remember.

It's fact of life, this sort of thing these days John.

BOTH of my cards; personal and company have been cloned within the last 6 weeks. Both times the bank have picked it up for me on the day in question.

It seems that some scammers try to make a payment to someone such as Christian aid to see what happens. They try a pound first to see if it goes, then hit the card hard. That's what the bank told me anyway. They asked me " have you just pledged a pound to Christian aid "

ME ? with my reputation? giving money away ? don't think so........

A few years ago I apparently bought 1000 USD worth of 'confectionary' at Denver Colorado airport. That card bit the dust too.

I think the nice gentlefolk at the top of the parade, Shell station are Sri Lankans. Shell stations seem to attract them all over the country.

Unfortunately you need to keep an eye on card statements regularly thses days to get on top of this quickly. Mostly the card issuer covers it totally but sometimes proving you were not where the card was, when the transaction happened can be troublesome.

A similar thing happened at the BP garage in Weedon (Northamptonshire) about a year or so ago. They have a Budgens store in there and lots of the locals used it as well as the passing trade. When it all came out that the scamming had originated from there - the locals were threatening to torch the place. The owner has recently said to the press he almost went under because or the business he later lost.

The money which had been scammed was traced to The Tamil Tigers.

My CC was cancelled the other year after I was informed it might have been compromised... and a couple of days later the papers ran the story about the Shell station at the top of Leam. Coincidence? Dont think so.

More recently my Switch card got binned. Just back from NZ and used it a few times in London before coming home. Just happened to look at my online banking a day later and apparently I went to the cinema in a town I hadnt heard of until I Google'd it. Then 1p CR, 1p DR, 1p DR, 1p DR... Phone bank - please kill card!

I am sure there are lots of tips to try and keep yourself safe-ish? Here are a couple of "how I like to do its"...

1) Keep a specific CC that has a very low limit for shopping, especially Internet shopping. The banks are generally pretty good but in worst case scenario at least the crims cant bin your life savings!

2) Similar to 1) - I never keep more money that I need to in the current account. If my account and/or Switch card is abused the damaged is limited.

My 2p worth...
