I did the supercar experience at snetterton last year (anybody else done it?) because i wanted to drive a ferrari (the local dealers wouldn't give a test drive to a 21 year old).
I didn't crash any of the cars, so would be quite happy to take my WRX on a track day when i can afford to.

34, self employed in business communications consultancy(exhibitions, conferences, video etc).
99MY UK scooby financed on lease finance over 3 yrs at £330 + VAT month with residual of £11k after 3 yrs. Yes, I know, no chance of it being worth that with probably 60,000 on it by then. Oh well, you live and learn.
Earnings? On the up. £50k +.
Wife drives A4 Avante 2.6. Makes a nice change from the Sccoby, especially on a long run.
Also co-owner of a 1964 Healey 3000. Fun, cheap to own, run and insure and its well noisy!

I work in an IT Department, Senior IBM AS400 Technical Support. average 80 hours a week.
3 Kids, a wife, loads of animals, 1 shogun & A Scooby to support, house is not big enough but moving is not cheap either.
Money good. I was going to get a 22B last year, but she how must be obeyd decided that a new shogun was needed. Kept the 93 WRX Slowly [read very slowly] doing it up.
Paid for it out right.
No track days as spare time is limited, going to Brands this afternoon about 3pm to watch.
34 look older, act younger [a lot younger] feel like a teenager still.

Bought a Saxo VTR from new 2 1/2 years ago, having just got a job after finishing my degree, sold it for a total loss of £6k over the 2 years of ownership. Used the cash along with a bank loan of £8k and borrowed money from parents to buy the Scooby MY00 in June. Currently paying £870 a month (only till the end of the year then back to just the bank loan of £270). As I am on £20k the car is currently costing me 3/4 of my wages before I put petrol in it, pay rent, buy food, etc Doh!!
Oh yeah I am a Delphi Developer (who can't afford to drive his car).

Said no to a company car - scoobs don't make the approved list - and took the cash allowance instead.
Paid a lump from my savings, the cash allowance (and less tax) pays the finance for the rest and a few quids left over to pay the insurance.
Ya probably guessed I'm in IT and doing ok after working at it for 20 years.

Yet another IT bod. Earn over 30k for now. Intend to go contracting for silly money soon. Car (MY93 WRX) totally paid for with a loan. My social life seems to cost me sooo much I never have any savings or cash lying about. Also criminally bad with money - found out a couple of weeks ago that I had another loan with my bank (for 5k) that I'd forgotten about - after only a year. Might help if I read my bank statements. Anyway, 32 years old.

Also had a picture of a Scoob on my desk as an incentive. Worked hard to pass accountancy exams, went for a test drive , took wife (also accountant). She said "we have to have this car", and who was I to argue? Sold our Fiesta LX for £4.2k and financed the rest

You are all going about it the wrong way.
My wife had a Saxo VTR for a about 3 years and decided she wanted a change. I took her to a garage close to home that had about 4 Impreza's on the forecourt. She spotted a silver wagon with very nice wheels (that is her main criteria for choosing a car) and bought it.
I proceeded to stick a ScoobySport backbox on it and fit the seats from a MY00 into it.
Result is: I keep driving my company car during the week, and at weekends I steal her car from her. All at no extra cost to me, except for petrol, which it seems to go through at an alarming rate of knots.

I work in IT Sales, and moved to a new job in May, get a lovley car allowance (£750 per month b4 tax) so went and bought a brand new MY00 straight from the dealer.
Now most people will say you should have imported, but I needed a car within 2 weeks, and effectively the company are paying, so I wasn't too bothered. Put a Grand down as deposit and picked it up on a miserable rainy day in Wincanton!
Next on the list is a Yamaha R6, the Scoob is great, but I fancy some 2 wheeled action as well!!
I am 27 and earn over the £50k per year mark.

I'm 28, a mechanic in the offshore oil industry, earn around 50k, investments bring in another 10K or so, just traded my catalunya + 7.5k for a 99 limited edition sti RA, the savings/ investments paid for it. A decent enough wage but I've only got half a life!

New MY00 UK turbo in Jan this year - £7K cash plus two year balloon finance leaving £10K (Subaru finance). Options then will be either to trade in for new WRX (if residuals are OK and WRX has improved a bit), sell car and get something else - Porky boxter, or keep car for a bit.
I work in boring IT (salaried) but am absolute rubbish at managing my money.
Like Markus, I cannot bring myself to do track days, although i would love to

Anybody who can go IT contracting should really consider taking the plunge. Within 18 months I'd paid off my old car loan, and bought my 99MY for cash (new at UK full list at the time) with plenty of money to spare.
Rates, especially in London, seem to have risen quite a bit in the last few years, and the only people I know earning similar amounts have high-pressure permie jobs for banks and the like.
What do I earn? My current rate is probably fairly typical of a London based developer, and gives my company an annual turnover well into 6 figures.

Many of the IT contractors at my place are earning £55 per hour plus. I can't afford to not be a contractor anymore. Was a contractor a long time ago, but during the recession scurried back into a safe permie job. Time to take the plunge again.

I'm a forty something sad old git in his second childhood.
Opted out of the company car scheme and took the allowance a few years back. I took my last Scooby on the track a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. My P1 is only a few months old so didn’t book Brands as I wanted to run it in first.
Yes, I work in IT as well and I helped to make Larry Ellison one of the richest men in the Universe.

Sold my 9 year old Lotus Esprit (bought when car was 7 years old for cash, after my TESSA matured, saved the TESSA money while still living with my parents) when my daughter was 6 months old and my wife went back to work. Looked for a UK Scooby from a dealer that meant not spending any additional cash after selling the Lotus privately. Bought the Scooby after some haggling for £11k (94 L reg 4dr).
I manage a system testing department for a pensions/life assurance co. and earn approx. £45k.

I worked in international development. I've lived for two years in Moscow and over a year in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. (I'm not kidding; I still have the Mongolian girlfriend after 4 years and 3 continents!). Bought mine cash, nine times the highest amount I'd previously spent on a car (2700 on old 205GTI), paid off a Visa Delta card; damn that was funny. Still terrified to drive it anywhere near properly (KimA and Andrei, comments?), particularly after I've just blown all my savings on a house and a postgrad degree, and house could get repossessed in a few months if I don't get money soon. Have just finished the degree; here's looking for a real job again!

I reckon i must get a prize for the lowest paid guy owning a scoob.
I've never earnt more than 16k a year, work on a farm, all new kit dgps combine all computerised, full balance, yield ect highly skilled job ,free house though, too many hours(110 plus per week in summer) and pays crap.
bought my new scoob a year ago 22k with plate paid cash made about 20k last year sharedealing so thought i'd enjoy it a little, been thinking about the scoob since we had a little un as there was no room in back of 200sx,been buying property and renting it out so make a few quid to keep the scoob going.
just bought another house and going for career change into finance in near future so i might have some time to relax and enjoy myself in the summer.
markus,a good question to ask ,not rude at all,its only numbers and bits of paper at the end of the day.
edit, i'm a very young 32year old

28 yrs old Audio technician who wishes he was payed as well as an IT technician (I am in charge of a network of 7 computers in my lab), but sadly isn't, anyone wanna web-designer?
Anyway, paid cash for my 92K WRX import(immaculate condition, credit to former owner) after cashing in ISA and selling my tresured Golf GTI16V (man was that econimical!). Own the vehicle outright, just the 3 grand of credit card bills to pay off now + the gogo juice!!!!!!!!!
My scoob almost reminds me why I sold my chipped Lancia Delta HF Turbo many years ago, £100 per week in petrol! Your only young once (again)!

Kevin2000, just wanted to say that my car is a company one, not my own. It's the company demo car, and unfortunatly P1's can't be put on the books as a demo car.
I pay a shead load of tax on it, and yes I do work 50+ hours a week as a service manager at a subaru dealer. It's a barstuard of a job and I think I work pretty hard.
For the record, dads never given me anything, I've worked for it - and thats the way it should be.
I still want his P1 tho
If your in the area call in to our garage - the coffee + scooby chat is free Anything else is £50 per hour
