So lets start a thread slating Thatcher (which he deserves) Then move on to Sheringham. Why not Keane for the Haaland tackle, which did actually finish his career by the way.
Why isnt the Ref getting any stick or the linesman who was on that side????

I am a City fan and yes he should get band for games, he has been fined and this should go to the hospital charity if they have on. I remember Davis of Arsenal elbowing someone off the ball and yes the Essien incident, but it wasnt on SKY every 15minutes for the last two days.

Was violent conduct and should get that ban, Police why???
You never see the Police getting involved when players fight or if they do they just drop the charges.

So really what we need is a solicitor sat on the bench so that evey time someone foul another player they can run on and get the player bailed to play on rather than the Police arresting him and marching him off to the cells.

Ban and fine "yes"..... Police "no"......

Police should be out catching thieves, muggers and other scum. If Mendes wants to press charges then that is up to him, but like said before Policev should stay out off it.

My peice said and I await the replies.

So, if you have never noticed that if you hurt one leg, you compensate this by putting more pressure on the other side.

But what do I know I just attended the physios for the good of my health......

See your point Martin. I think this particular incident has outraged sports and non sports fans alike and in fairness this isn't the first time Thatcher has used his elbow as you probably well know.

A lot of bad tackles can often be judged as mis-timed/ over enthusiastic etc. Its always the same........."It wasn't intended"........"I was going for the ball. There was no malice intended etc"

Being close to the pitch microphones you heard the sickening thud of his elbow making contact. Poor Mendes didn't stand a chance but I think in fairness to the guy it appears like he just wants to get on with his football and is thankful there are no lasting effects. This might be a little premature.

For Pearce to come out, suspend him and openly suggest there are no excuses speaks volumes. I agree though the police should take a back seat and let the clubs sort it out. Even Harry Redknapp agrees mate.

Slighty off topic, but does anyone have the video of David busst's bone breaking challenge at old trafford. Has to be one of the worst football injuries I have seen

It was how they were sweeping the blood of the pitch that added to the horror. Truly sickening.

" What do i know"? Not very much, actually.

So if, and it's a big if, Keane's tackle really damaged Haaland's leg, then his other perfectly "good" leg just got tired and " gave up"?? Pull the other one (oooh don't, you'll hurt this one...).

What a load of crap.

FB
2 full knee reconstructions and 11 arthroscopies on one knee so far and more physio than you can ever imagine

I hope you are ok FB, but unfortunately AH was a prof Footballer and unable to run at 100% as previous.

I'm not saying he cant walk, but the wear and tear was to much. I have played at Reserve level and Bro and Father Prof and the wear and tear on knees takes it toll.

I'm alright thanks mate apart from on cold wet days. I'm currently just hoping the knee lasts until knee replacements become reliable over the long term. I only played soccer for fun but I played first class rugby which was the equivalent of being a pro and was where my knee went.... I know all about wear and tear. Didn't stop me skiing, playing drinking rugby, 5 a side soccer, etc, in between ops - all that probably hastened the demise of my knee but I couldn't help myself

My knee condition was a congenital one that was made worse by the pounding it got, so my feeling is that similarly AH may have had a knee problem in the other leg all along ( like lots of footballers these days - perhaps studs grip the turf too well these days) that manifested itself some time after the keane incident. I'm not saying that keane didn't deserve to go off, he did, but I seriously doubt that it had anything to do with the end of AH's career.
Anyway, I bet the sunderland players are glad he's not going to join in training...
