I fail to see your point.

I come here to share a bit of banter with like-minded people, most of which are fairly intellectual, in an attempt to move away from the prepubescent discussion you get at most online communities relating to the game, and considering it's free to sign up and there are no explicit rules as to what I have to post on, I'm more than entitled to be here.

I have no sympathy for you whatsoever - if you ask a stupid question, you'll get a stupid answer. Besides, I was hardly being serious, was I?

If you're going to get bent out of shape because of a throwaway comment, I suggest you refrain from posting your idiotic thoughts in this section, as you're only enticing them.

Oh, and here's a PM I've just received:

G-Star

You've overstepped the mark you little *******.

You keep persisting on the boxing gloves thing, I am going to the rolling road day at Scoobyclinic, I suggest you turn up and show yourself if you want to make something of it.

If you continuosly going to wind me up hiding behind a keyboard, give me your address.

You've had your warning. 1 more strike and your out.
I rest my case.

We all know the level of the game is nothing like it used to be but your not exactly contributing anything to these boards yourself.
Fair point Dave, especially about not contributing myself I agree with you.

Give me a chance mate, ive only been a member a fortnight.

Don't get me wrong, I like to watch football when its played properly, Its good to watch, but I always end up turning it off when there diving about all over the place.

For example, compare it to snooker players, they practise 6 hours a day at least, and if they miss its by a fraction. The top players out of the top 16 might earn anything between 12 to 35k a year. The top players might earn anything for 75k to 400k a year, thats if they win a couple of tournaments. And we talk about honesty, its the most honest sport in the world. All sports should be the same.

Compare to football, how players on 100k a week can miss the net by such a margin is beyond me. Those players earn more in less than a month than what a top pro earns in a year, and earn more per day than a quality player earns in a year. And honesty, well need I say more.

Its not really a fair comparison I know but its an indication on in my opinion how a professional sportsman should go about there business.

Footballers arent footballers or sportsman anymore, there celebrities in there own right.

I think players like Teddy Sheringham for example deserve a bit of respect and shouldn't be stereotyped with the normal run of the mill money grabbing cheaters.

RapidSeven why post on this thread if you think football is pathetic.
I started this thread because I was appalled by the 'tackle' by an alleged proffesional.
You start going on about you don't watch divers fair enough i hate it but was the incident a dive? No, then you start waffling on about how much footballers get paid so what. What has that got to do with some poor bugger getting nailed in the face and being hospitalised.

i can't believe that one player would do that to another fellow player and i can't believe that stuart pearce a player who played hard but fair tried to defend that sort of play maybe he does not criticise his players in public but i think this is different.i wonder if sky will get him banned like they did micheal essien(sorry sour grapes)

I must admit I was disappointed by Pearce' reaction on MOTD. I think he'll be a little embarrassed when he sees the challenge.

Just like Michael Brown on Giggs Thatch has previous, lots of previous, collapsed a lung of a Chinese player on a tour, knocked another plater out with his elbow

I found it almost insulting when Fashanu fell to the floor pretending he was injured. There was a program the other day about it, and Fashanu still claims that he was injured......HOW!!!!!.

Oh and Mabbutt doesn't have any feeling in his right cheek

Looked at Thatchers challenge many times over the day it doesn't get any better.

Right at the point of impact he just thrusts his arm into Mendes' head.

Should be banned for the season IMHO.

Fair play to Stuart Pearce looks like he will be taking it hand.

Made me laugh when he said Thatcher was looking pretty solen faced this morning..................was that after he found out that the police were now involved.

He should do time. If someone did that in the street and it was caught on camera they would be done for ABH so why is he any different??

You can see as he's running towards Mendez he's not even looking at the ball but him. A disgrace to English football
