I phoned trackstar last week to check if my system was working.
I was told they could only test it if the car had moved within the last six hours? So if a thief can hide the car for six hours or more then after that he must have all the time in the world to rip out the worthless piece of shi*e.
What i did find funny was that i had to tell them where the car was and they would agree or disagree with me. They were reluctant to tell me first where they thought the car was. Sounded like bullsh*t to me so after ten mins of discussion the operator finally agreed to tell me first where the car was, incidently they did know where it was.
Nik.

Sorry to hear this mate

NCP should start taking a little more responsibility for cars. They don't give a to$$ and they charge a lot of money to park.

I had my car park broken into in Manchester years ago. The car park was supposidly guarded for 24 hours aprt from a 1 hour shift change. The hour in which my car got broken into

Its a shame that car parks aren't all like park safe in derby. 100% record or never having a car stolen. Free contents insurance upto 2K if your car is borken into and the will replce your car if it ever gets stolen. And its not unreasnoable to park in either and well worth it for peace of mind at night

Some good news, i think on the scooby ? After accepting the loss of my 04 type 20, started looking around for a new one. After 6 months looking for the perfect example the last time, was starting to get depressed as nothing seemed perfect as my type 20.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE received a letter from Jacksons Recovery (Birmingham) stating my beloved type 20 has been recovered !!!!!!! Tried to ring them this morning to find out that the office is closed all weekend. So i travelled to the Jacksond recovery, to see if anyone was about. (They must work being a 24h recovery firm???) After 1/2 hour recovery van turned up. Was told my Type 20 was there, but not allowed to see it, as they were waiting for finger printing from police. The guy said he could have a look for me and tell me a rough idea of the damage. 5 mins later turned up.

Front splitter cracked in half and front bumper hanging off at one side. As far as he could tell that was it on the outside. On the inside, alot of wires hanging out under steering wheel, drivers side door panel missing and the box behind the hand broke ripped out. Stereo and PSI3 monitor still there. Not sure of any other details mechanically will have to wait and see. Also he asked me if i had a lawn mower in the back when it was nicked????? As one was in the back seat ???

So over all, i think i am glad it has been recovered, but will need to see for myself and have a look under the bonnet. Here's hoping, i'll keep you up dated in the next few days.

Still very worrying that they now seem able to get new-age cars without the key I thought the encrypted key transponder linked to the ignition barrel and ECU was pretty secure, but obviously no longer.

Hope it's not too badly damaged mate

Worrying if they got by that easy more likely they used Secondhand ECU with their Transponder in ECU's don't take long to replace

Extra alarms like Cobra, Clifford etc etc They just buy one of each then set them all up in "Valet mode" or the default code, Once they find the Brain in your car it's a straight swop with their own.

Glad to hear you got it back, hope you can still enjoy it as much. My Dad recently left working for the NCP at Bham Airport, he drove the buses and said the whole place is just a joke, they couldnt organise a **** up in brewery and he had enough.

I'm pleased you're pleased but personally I wouldn't want it back. The cosmetics might not be too bad but if they have damaged it inside/outside they obviously weren't stealing it to order, (and therefore took care of it).

Therefore they must've been after it for a ride/job, in which case they've probably screwed the ***** out of it.

Not meaning to be negative, just a note of caution.

id sue mate, Id ring up insurance companies and gather evidence that the airport isnt secure and then **** those *******s sideways with a lawsuit.

If my car was stolen and recovered I wouldnt want it anymore, it as if its been raped and it will never be the same.

FFS! A bit extreme to steal a car to then use it steal a lawn mower???

Went to see my 04 type 20 yesterday. From the outside not to bad front splitter and bumper hanging off..............As for the inside ? Wire's hanging out everywhere, door panel removed, glove box removed, rear seats removed, gear stick surround removed, speedo unit lose. although all the various parts were in the boot. Alpine stereo, psi monitor, boost gauge, new, still in box cd,s, and a cd wallet with over 30 cd's, all still in the car???????????

Apparently police were tipped off about the location of vechicle by local person and recovered it from a lock up. Insurance company have sent it to cavanghs to be assessed. So just have to wait and see for the outcome

all the bits removed was probulary them looking for the tracker tbh. Then park it up & let the heat die down a little before selling it on.

I am glad that you have it back and by the sound of it it is hopefully not going to cost to much to get it square for you. Better a claim of this value against your insurance rather than a full car tbh, I can't understand why people say they don't want cars back ???

Bring back the death penalty in my opinion, not one of these quick electric chair jobs either... full on hanging / nailing to the cross stuff.. lets see how much crime their is after a few sentences along these lines.

The chances are these **** have already been caught for nicking cars before yours.. let off and just done it again... and probably will again. I hope they break a window and bleed to death at their next excursion.

Rant over, glad u got your car found and good luck with your decision.

If the IC says there fixing it, they have no duty to provide a new vehicle...

Sounds a bit harsh, but why should they, they didnt steal it.

He has an insurance policy that protects him againts all kinds of damage. That includes theft. they are there to make sure that you dont end up financialy worse off in the event of damage. They have recovered his car, they will more than likely fix it up, and hand it back to tham.

I think you need to make sure that the car isnt down on HPI though, they have been known to do this even before a settlement figure is aggreed. If there fixing it, then then need not ever list it as been stolen recovered.

hope you get sorted soon though

So so gutted for you bud

I have my first Scoob (a Type20) coming by the end of the month.
I'm both excited to have it coming, but also scared that some twit will try to thieve it.

I'm even more scared of catching them mid-attempt cos I'd rip their f*ckng heart out their chests

Sorry, but I have no time for people that disrespect other people's hard earned property.

I have no time for them either Callum. They just want shooting IMHO, or locking up for good. But our soft legal system won`t do it. Why?????

Still waiting on the assessor ! Checked various points with the insurance people. As long as the vechicle is repaired by their designated repair company and returned in A1 condition, it cannot be listed on any stolen recovered HPI Check. But have got them to check anyway and asked them to put this in writing.

As far as i am aware i cannot refuse the car if it is deemed worth fixing and can be returned to me in the same condition as a had it. ie A1. (As long as the repair bill does not come to 75% of the value of the car). Someone may be able to correct me on that though.

Looking at the damage, and i am no expert, most of the damage seemed aesthetic. so i would have thought that it will be repaired, but will have to wait and see.

One last point that i found out was; any security device that was on my car, ie RAC tracker (not that it was any use, as they simple ripped it out), and alarm and imobiliser are not covered. So i will have to fork out for new alarm, if i get the car back.

Steve350- live just down the road from you in Toddington, if you see me about introduce yourself (if i get the car back)

I'll keep everyone up dated, in this now long running epic!!!!!!!!!!

Add one of the Dipol gear locks and you will be able to sleep eaiser. I was worried about my Scoob all the time as was often travelling to areas of high car crime (work related) where often the Hotel wouldn't have secure parking and it would have to take its chances on the street

Hadn't heard of the Dipol at the time (may not have been around then? Was a few years ago) so just had a Disklok which at the time was new on the market. Never, ever had anyone attempt to nick it with that baby on

Too much noise will have been made trying to get it off the wheel I think. Often had to take its chances at Airport car parks as well (work again ) and never had a problem either.

A Vote for Disklok here

Sorry to go off Topic a little, but there is little point in having such a nice motor as a Type 20 if you have to spend the whole of your life paranoid about some scumbag nicking it!!
