Its sad for you that after a chat about Knocklinks you have come across as someone that stores pics of half naked men on their pc.
S**t happens
That pic was linked off a bt pic search, if ps let you out the besement more often you would realise you cannot link pics straight from your pc. good night and enjoy your homo erotic dreams

Listen ***** there isn't a C in my name.
My name is spelt NIK!
Why would i insert a 'C'

For somebody that posted a picture that perhaps they might regret i would have thought you might think long and hard before you post another word.
I think you need a tutor to teach you before you post!
You are making more of an **** of yourself with each post.
Go to bed and get a good nights sleep with Julian.

Instead of going through all of this again, can't we just make a link abd name it, 'Pete's opinions'? There he can rave on to his hearts content.
I have just read six pages of 'Pete dribble', and as usual, no one will back him up. Why oh why does he bother? And why does everyone on here rise to it?
Sad, very sad.

Hmmmm, not a surprising post - remember the poll to keep or ditch pslewis??

You were one of the 18% that wanted me removed ...... you may also remember that 76% thought I should stay.

6% have me on ignore .............

Now, lets assume that 50% of the 76% want me for the entertainment - that STILL leaves 38% that think I have a valid Engineering contribution to make ..... and my MAJOR contribution is to shoot down the ScoobyNet Myths made up by freaky geeks and swallowed by the gullable, like you!

I would guess that for every Impreza running a CockLink there are 50 that are not ........................ if they were really needed for some reason other than 'Likkle Lights to make you feel Cool' - then we would be seeing massive engine destruction taking place.......

Top Gear and all the Car mags. would jump on to Subarus case faster than your rent boy jumps on you!!

Have you EVER heard of Impreza Det issues and CockLinks away from the ScoobyNet community?? I think NOT!

So, in summary, if you want likkle stupid lights on your dash - if you want your neighbours to think you are cool - if you want to dream that you have a real rally car - if you want to hoodwink your relatives that your car needs special measures - if you can't think for yourself - if you are engine noise deaf ......................

BUY ONE!!

If you are a leader and not a follower - if you understand cars and engines - if you are comfortable with your esteem - if you are 'normal' ............

THEN DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

There we go - the FINAL definitive statement on the wisdom, or not, of CockLinks

Pete

Pete,

just to put some petrol on the fire - det is not a Scooby issue - it is an issue for all tuned turbo cars.

Of course for standard turbo cars used in typical road conditions it should not be an issue at all.

Just to put you right.

So??

I assume YOU support the use of CockLinks?

Do you have one?

WHY do you have one?

No good just having a pop at me - deal with the issue under discussion as I do - or shut up and bugger off ..... you contribute nothing!

I await your technical answer ...

My confusion then - because yes I have heard of Impreza Det and other det issues away from the Scoobynet community.

And no I do not have a Knocklink as my current Scoob is not heavily tuned AND has an excellent ECU which deals with knock.

On my previous car which was heavily tuned I did have one as the ECU did not deal with det and on track it was a valuable tool to protect the engine as heat could cause a det issue in certain circumstances after long periods of running

Respected people in the tuning industry don't agree that they have any use whatsoever - see a previous post - surely if the red light lights you have damaged your engine? To get that bad it's TOO LATE!!

Therefore the CockLink tells you that your engine has blown up ....... I may be weird, but, to me, the con rods and big ends bouncing on the tarmac behind me would kinda give me a slight indication that things weren't right!!

Where have you heard of det and det issues then?? Meets?

Well, to be honest Pete, I don't feel the need to justify anything. I was commenting on how you love to spout the same old tripe, whether it be about oil, detonation, modifications etc. I'm astounded at how, in your eyes, these subjects seem to hold such weight and you seem to almost 'get off' on disscussing such issues.
Didn't you once say not to buy import sti's because they are much more likely to blow up??
Well I have had my sti 4 for 2 years, covered 14,000 miles (totalling 55,000miles), and not had one engine problem, not even the dreaded 'maf failure'!

I have followed certain recommendations found on this website, none of which being originally posted by yourself.
The proof is always in the pudding Pete.

2. Why do you have one?

3. Why do you NOT have one?

4. What technical issues can you address about them?

FFS come on answer the SIMPLE questions - this is a CockLink thread - NOT a pslewis appreciation thread .................

1. Do you have a CockLink?

2. Why do you have one?

3. Why do you NOT have one?

4. What technical issues can you address about them?

There we go the questions AGAIN!!

Pete,

You have a lot of answers, so let's see if you can answer these questions: -

Have you ever seen a detonation trace from an ECU datalog?

Have you ever used an ECU that allows you to alter the fuel and ignition advance that enables you to see the detonation noise floor rise and fall?

Do you know how much detonation can occur before the engine has a critical failure?

Have you ever taken an engine to bits and seen clear evidence of detonation on the pistons and yet the engine continues to run well?

Have you ever used 'det cans' to listen to the degree of knock in an engine and tune the level of boost, fueling and ignition to optimise power whilst minimising the impact of detonation?

Did you actually know that you can actually have quite a lot of detonation before large components of your engine are left strewn at the roadside?

So here's the thing. As detonation has to be at a certain level before it is fatal to the engine a Knocklink should you choose to use one, can be adjusted to go red as the detonation noise floor rises above a certain point.

WHICH IS EXACTLY HOW THE ECU TREATS DETONATION.

However with a Knocklink should you choose to use one, you have a visible sign of this occuring should you either not trust your ECU (personal choice) or be using an ECU that does not provide adequate detonation protection (early JECS and aftermarket ECUs).

In terms of leading tuners who do not subscribe to using a Knocklink I am somewhat surprised - the tuners of the great majority of the top ten fastest Subarus in the UK utilise some form of knock warning in their cars, whether it is a Knocklink, ECU or laptop based.

I look forward to you sharing who these 'leading tuners' are who do not recommend some form of awareness of the impact of detonation.

There you go - plenty of meat for you to get your teeth into.

1)yes
2)to warn me of any high levels of detonation (caused by a bad batch of fuel, failed maf etc etc.)
3)-
4)The higher the revs, the higher the level of detonation. It is set to maximum, and I will get 1 or 2 amber lights at 7000rpm. If I use bp ultimate instead of optimax/tesco 99, I will get a red light at 6500 rpm. Thats how decided upon which fuel suits my car best. If I use octane booster, I get no amber lights. It allow me to make a choice.

I would also like to know which top subaru tuners do not recommend having a knock meter of some kind!

Thank you so much ....

If you look through the posts here you will see that, apparently, Power Engineering think they are worthless ............ BUT Subaru provide a VERY GOOD knock sensor!!
