Still no guarantee .... after paying for an non-existant exhaust a few years ago from a well known Subaru tuning company, my credit card company said it would take 3 months minimum to get the money back and even then, the company could easily recharge it to my account .... however, Trading Standards sorted my refund out within 48 hours .... wouldnt have mattered how I paid!!

 

I'm interested in purchasing the 6pot AP 335mm w/ hoses.

But you got your money within 48hrs, Trading Standards or not. They (like anyone else) will always try to find a way out, doesn't mean they will but you may have to be persistant.

 

I got my money back only because trading standards intervened .... I spent 6 weeks trying to do it myself with no success .... point is, the credit card company were useless!!

TBH, all im saying here, is that paying Ian by cheque isnt a problem (the one I sent him was for nearly £2K! ) and, working in retail myself, I can totally understand why he wont accept credit cards, especially when he's already offering a sizeable discount.

 

When is the GB closing, abd do we know if we can a deal on other brake discs for example i would be after ap6 355mm and a set of rears. Is it best to contact Godspeed directly?

 

I don't think AP do rears yet for us, they're in testing currently. Group buy is still open as far as I know, my cheque is going off today

Contact godspeed for the info you need. Group buy is for AP calipers so I'd doubt you'd get a discount on other things.

The 4-pot caliper is the CP5200, although he mentioned the possibility of the CP6600 which has better dirt-seals apparently (fully covered pistons). That one uses 30mm rather than 28mm thick disks. Ian tells me that he'll do them at the same price, £900. The group-buy reached just 3 people not including me (yet) so the discount is £100.

To clarify, the CP5200 does indeed need a 28mm disk; it's the CP6600 uses a 30mm disk.

I think you'll find the CP5200 calipers cant be used on the 335mm discs as the discs are too thick , the 5200 calipers are only for the 325mm or AP 330mm discs which are 28mm thick

 

I think Andy is after the 304/308 kit anyway.

As I understood it the discount applies to all "ap kits (any size)"

 

nope this gb was for 6 pot 335 and 355 kits.
I think you should open a new thread for the 4pot kits with prices and all.

I have this kit (335mm), bought from Ian last summer. The brakes are fantastic, absolutely brilliant, particularly on track.

One point to note is the issue with 17" wheels. The discs you will get with this kit are made by Ian himself. They are fabulous, no problems with them, but I believe they are thicker than AP discs. This means that the caliper moves closer to the spokes of the wheel. I can tell you that they will NOT fit all 17" wheels, in fact I reckon they will not even fit MOST 17" wheels. I use them with Team Dynamics Pro Race 1s (1.2 will not fit) and Ultralite A-Tecs. I tried them with P1 wheels, didn't fit, and also with another Ultralite rim, again didn't fit. Ian advised me that they do fit Compomotive MOs.

So if you are ordering and have 17" wheels, I would advise you to check directly with Ian that the kit will fit over your specific wheels.

I don't really get this one ? How could the caliper itself move closer to the spokes ? The caliper is of fixed width, it will only accept a certain maximum disc width, only the pots will not move out so far to press the pads against the disc.

Or am I missing something ?

what I should of said is the GB is for 6pot kits any size.

Since the disc is mounted onto the hub the whole caliper will need to be mounted further out if the disc is thicker - the caliper is centred on the disc, the thicker the disc, the further the centre of the disc is from the hub.

 

the Godspeed discs and bells are mounted further in though to allow for this though arnt they ?

 

In responce to the problems with 17" wheels .... I too have a 335mm 6 pot kit on my RB5 and to say that the fronts of the cailpers was close to the rears of the spokes of the standard Speedline alloys is an understatement .... in fact im sure one of my calipers actually has scuff marks on it!

 

please be advised due to people droping out of this gb. it will be held open for another week.

p.s. I have emailed ian asking him to include ap 4pots.

 

does anyone know this; I want the 355mm kit, ive got 4 pots on at the moment under 18' Rota rims, the calipers are about 3mm away from the spokes. the 6 pot caliper is fixed but would it be wider than the 4pot subaru one? if it is it wont fit me

The discs in the kits have more offset on them , so they will be in further than a standard disc , ask Ian , he can tell you if they will fit or not

 

What are the numbers now? (my cheque has aleady gone)
