Got to be in the top ten threads for typed tripe
A boxster is a capable car, but with a 0-60 of 5.2secs, 12 secs to 100 and a top speed of 167, a modded scoob will beat it to 100 pretty much 100% of the time! I have not driven one, so can't comment on its handling capacity, but i'm certain it's not lacking any! I have had a play with one and beat it hands down twice losing once when i bogged down heavily so obviouisly it's down to the driver and I won the percentage game

Why do you people bother owning a performance vehicle if you arent going to push it's boundries? It just doesn't make sense at all!
Boxster is a good car but I have and will again beat one, it's not that hard! AWD traction and 350 hp is going to see off any boxster! END OF

Yes a modded Scoob would beat 0-100 but only in the hands of a few and road testers out there, A Boxster imo is easier to launch then a Scoob and the odd second is f**k all on the road and as for its 167mph top speed thats pretty damn quick.
I own a classic Scoob btw, my buddy owns a Boxster and having driven both i can tell you a Boxster is not at all a slow car unless you own some serious modded hyperdrive Scoob or Skyline, or 911TT or TVR then in a straight line they may feel slow but lets face it 0-100 in 12 seconds is not to be sniffed at for any car. where the Scoob really excels to me is its fluidity and midrange punch from corner to corner although on teh handling stakes the Boxster is superb and has a lot less body roll than a Scooby. then again even a whiff of a wet road and a Boxster woudl not see which way a Subaru went.

I agree, two very similar cars who have achieved their goal by two very differnt means. At least it goes to show there is choice out there for people looking for perfomance with either sports car looks ( IMO boxster is no pretty car) or family saloon practicality

They are not "that quick", I had one as a courtesy car on Tuesday last, found it very quick to respond when pulling away but as soon as I gave it WOT it felt flat and just didn't pull, ok so I'm comparing to my car and the STi5 but even so I was dissapointed. Sounded good though. Any mildly uprated Impreza "ought" to give one best.

last summer,
i can remember coming home from my G/F`s down south and i was traveling up my fav private runway, when a black porker appeared behind me
i was making progress, and this car hung back for quite a while, i was passing other people on this very long runway, this porker came right up behind me, and when i checked the mirror, the bloke was grinning, so i figured i would stick my foot right down.
i figured that the porker driver would not have the bottle, to do some "silly speeds" and at approx 120ish i nailed it in 5th gear, i normally pull away from most things, my car is "nippy"
i remember waiting a few seconds and checking the mirror again, i was expecting to see a small porker in the mirror, i got a shock when i saw a bigger one
at 140 on this very nice private runway i pulled over, my car was accelerating hard but i knew that it was going to run out soon, the porker pulls along side me, i glance at the clocks and i am in the rev limiter in 5th gear his wife waves at me, i give him the respect that he deserved, and honestly, he put his foot down and seriously pulled away from me like i had put the brakes on.
i have never ever seen anything move so fast at such a high speed, i remember checking the mirrors and my rear spoiler looked blurry
i have maxed my car out lots of times, but i have never seen anything eat me up so fast at top speeds like that, the end of the private runway was near, we both slowed down, he pulled over and i came along side and gave him a little wave, massive respect to the bloke for actually using the car for what it was designed for, his wife looked excited, he looked happy with himself, after talking with a mate afterwards he told me it was probably a gt3 or something, all i know , is that it was fast and black and looked new
i hope he at least give me some credit for "giving it some"
boxters are crap and slow though

tbh i cant remember i had 2 hands on the wheel and taking one of for a split second to wave was more then enough for me
the front bumper looked a bit "swoopy" from lower speeds and looking in the mirror
porkers can sit at 160 all day long, scoobys dont really like it
Reading to newcastle in 4 hours 15 mins and thats with a stop at the services, to fill up after 280 miles, it was after this fill up that the foot went down i made sum decent time that day, there were times when it took me 9 hours for the same journey

Lol at this thread!
I don't think when people go on about "chav" "Scooby" owners they are really referring to the true meaning of the word chav i.e. unemployed tracksuit wearing spongers. I think the people using this term are the sort of people, usually professionals, who bought Imprezas when they were still quite expensive 2nd hand, and only really available to people with substantial funds/income.
We all know this is not the case anymore, with 2nd hand turbo examples now available for £2-3k, and new STI's going for £25k or whatever. This has led to an extremely diverse demographic of scooby owners, ranging from students, factory workers, IT , doctors and so on. The problem is some of the latter groups now feel the marque has 'gone to the dogs' so to speak, whereas, some of the new type of owners feel like they are owners of something special (which they are), and they want to show it and be part of it - in their own, sometimes slightly less eloquent way.
I think rather than moan about it, if people are that bothered by it they should sell their Subaru and move to a more prestigious marque (only for the same thing to happen again in a few years ). Respect to those who couldn't give a **** what others think, and just love the Scooby because it's a great car.
Cheers,
Jamie
P.S. I was not trying to be condescending or offend anyone with this post, it's just they way it is. I'm all for anyone owning a Scooby, all that matters is that they can afford to insure it.
P.P.S. After saying all that, I've just gone and bought a Porsche
