Guys,
Excellent drive / meet, thanks! Thoroughly enjoyed by myself and my passengers. Thanks to Barry K and Martin for meeting us at Granada services even though we were late getting there. Hope you guys plus Gilly and family had a safe drive home, and hope to see you all again!

Yep, agree with all said before. Most fun half hour driving on real roads I've ever had, I think - helps having an ex-rally driver (no-one famous before you ask!) as a notes-reader! I was at the front of the second pack - hope I didn't hold too many of you up. Great thrill going from 30mph zone to "national speed limit" 
Great day out - anyone interested in a "ring of Cambridge"? Thought I might organise a trip, about the same length or so, encircling Cambridge on back roads...

Nice pics, I was in the first group of about 10 cars,after leaving the services everyone set off at a fair pace,when my co pilot says"we are all bloody wrong already",this was on the first junction of the route!!!!After checking he was right,we decided that rather than following the group,we would go back to the first roundabout and try and catch the second group. After really caning the old scoob for about 15miles of great roads we wondered if the group were in front or behind so backed of a touch. Great roads and a lovely area for a blast,a big thanks to the organisers.Maybe a good idea for a future event would be to have one of the organisers leading the group, because it sure got lonely,like something off the X files
Still enjoyed seeing a bit of new country, and we had a blast, covering just over 420 miles.
See you all another time.

were you the (green?) Scooby who stopped at the "hump back bridge from hell" to say "hi" while i was waiting to take pictures of the rest of the pack?
If so, then thanks for calling by (i was even more lonely waiting for a missing group that we still don't fully know about!). If it is any consolation, you probably had the best drive, because you could choose your own pace (no convoys) - i did the route at 8:00am, and it was awesome!

...now I Know what the big wing is for! By the time I had landed I must have used every expletive known to man!
No damage done...but the annoying rattle from the behind the dash has disappeared

Hi all,
Excellent day out. It was my first meet but definately not my last.
We were second in line in the last group (I think) until the car in front went straight on past Ridge Lane. We then saw Kevin W coming towards us at the roadworks in Ridge Lane and then some guy pointing a camera at us at the bridge in Mancetter.
After that, like Chunky we were by ourselves but what an excellent drive.

I was hoping to have a chat. I know you also imported from Holland and was wanting to compare notes. Hopefully next time, maybe the Cambrige drive. I can't make the next Midlands meet in a couple of weeks time.

Forgive me God if i ever say again "at the end of the day it's just a car".
It's a way of life. Thanks to Kev, Boomer and "couldn't you tell Villa lost, no shirt" Walker for all the good times they had sorting this route out. What about all the routes you tried and rejected?!?! Lucky gits.
Barrie's Sport nearly lost us, but then nearly lost himself as we headed for the Gibbet being distracted by a tractor we couldn't see the road name. Good luck to "another" Kev who will shortly be a daddy, today could have been used to "induce" the new arrival at times!!
On passing the Gibbet I suddenly realised that no-one was actually driving my car and as it overtook what I believe to be an Amish horse and cart affair I felt I should don my tall Louis XIV wig (a la Elton John) and ask a nearby peasant for directions to the Witchfinder General's house.
If you don't believe me ask MTR, he will confirm that a headless apparition took over at Tamworth Services. Was any of this route over sacred ley lines?

Hello All,
We thoroughly enjoyed today's drive, even after such an early start (which should have been earlier shouldn't it MTR!?! Ooops).
And, after nearly getting left behind at Tamworth (thanks to those who hung on for us..), we ended up catching the main group!
The route was wicked, apart from coming across cyclists & sunday drivers...
Still, there were some spectacular corners & I really enjoyed day as did my brother Mart & mate, Scott.
Nice one for sorting such a good route & we'll keep checking for info on the next drive!

I notice you were asking Richard to discuss the fact he had imported his car from Holland.. I assume you were driving one of the Mica Blue 'W' regs?
I was in the silver H16 STE - which is also a 'W' imported from Holland.
I'll compare notes...let me know!

thanks to BOOMER + MTR 4 meetin' kevinw and myself at Nottm, sorry we were late, my sam had to resue a baby blue tit fron being ran over as we left her house (made us lose some time)
there were some pretty quick speeds at times quicker than i want to go round twisty country roads!!!!!! particually when u come across a 'tour of france' style bike ride hourse and cart with 'Steptoe and Son' also did anyone else notice the two old guys with yellow reflictive strips round their wasts????
at one stage i led a group! after the W reg dark blue scooby sped off, and let my girl friend Sam to navigate! but, found that discussing holidays whist map reading leads to
1. MISSIN' RIGHT HAND TURN
2. ALLOWS 15+ SCOOBYS' TO THEN BE IN FRONT
3. LEAVES YOU TO BRING UP REAR
4. MAKES YOU FEEL VERY SILLY!!!!!!
5. STILL LEAVES YOU TO LOSE THE 15+ CARS IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!!!!!!
glad GILLY and family were behind kept our own 'site seeing' drive going! nice to meet you.
i was v. suprized how quick the 5door light blue sport COULD GO!
even managed to lead him up the wrong road at 1 stage!!!! sorry
pub food was great sausage & mash/onion gravy
not that impressed with wax wizaed! think i can get my MER as good a finish as that if i have a afternoon free, and save a heeeeep of dosh in the prosses,

i have taken digital pix of most cars, i will let you know who's later, then i will e-mail them to you.

Looks like you all enjoyed it .... We have some really great roads around here, I enjoyed putting the route together.
MTR - Those long bends can be great fun
, We also have those Roman type chappies to thank for those great straight sections ..... but not the canal bridge ! Just wished I'd seen the cars flying over it !!
ALL - I'd just like to thankyou all for making the effort early on a Sunday morning and making the event a success, I'll give it a couple of months and I'll start sorting a few more roads out for Midlands Meet2 ...... that's if anyones interested

Thanks! Was quite happy to sit behind you for a while, as I eneded up doing the rest of the journey alone with no hope of catching the group in front. My car is actually a lowly WRX (no sti about it apart form mudflaps and badging on the wing, not to mention the front brakes)! It does go some though.

I'm one junction down from that - J9. I've noticed a couple of new-ish silver Imprezas just recently at J9, one going outrageously fast and making an outrageous noise ! lol
If you see a 96MY green mica with gold ex-P1 alloys that's me probably !

i'll second the fact that the "outrageous noise" must be WALKER, but i believe that the current exhaust is the quiet one (out of several?)!!
mb - J9-er on the way home from work, but sneaks through Curdsworth on the way in (pesky speed humps).

If you do have any interesting digi-photos, then JPEG is best (i can then re-size and thumb them).
As for "lets do another very soon", there has gotta be some good roads Nottingham way? But not too near the new SPECS though!

Yep! me exhaust WAS well loud and for that exact reson i`ve changed it to a 6x4 Magnex too `quiet` things down a bit.
