was under the car this morning, trying to sort the speedo and noticed:
a) broken earth strap from the transmission
b) the rubber gasket thing from the bottom of the TMIC was not on, in fact it was precariously balanced on the starter!
No wonder it was wooshing..... and i drove the car for about 3 miles too... lucky it didnt fall off anywhere!

still having real trouble geting the speedo cable in, taken it on and off 3 times now! grrr
its realllly hard to tell if it has 'bitten' or not when inserting it... any tips?
and how tight do you do the nut?

got check engine light earlier... sh*t me up i can tell you, but did a code read and it is just moaning about the speed sensor... phew
wanna get this sorted though ASAP, typical init... do a big job like the clutch and get foxed bya speedo cable!

It shouldn't be like that.
Clean everything and it should go home fiully. Never had a prob with mine..are you sure the routing of the cable is ok and not 'strained' by something being in the way up by the turbo etc?
Can't remember all the detail, but if the nut is plastic then hard finger-tighten only.
Keep in touch with it!
