I'm slightly disturbed by the vitriol being poured on DP Motorsport. Haven't we all had to ask questions and glean knowledge to achieve something - at some time.

I know for sure that my increasing knowledge of all things Subaru relies upon the help of some of you posting above and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Isn't the forum designed to aid Subaru owners [ and tuners ] who have problems and are seeking help?

Why is it that the usual cheerful tips and hints aren't forthcoming? If I have a problem building a Pulsar engine I know for sure that Dave at DP will talk me through it without a second thought as to why I am asking.

Come on guys, lighten up and give these people a chance.

OR have l missed something??

Think there are 3 threads within this thread, and people are forgetting why it was originally posted. Some people are commenting on the parts list from the first page which looks like a catalogue page, others are questioning DP Motorsports ability to produce the car but no one is really answering the main thread which is what parts would be good to get the desired or as close power output. Everyone has to start out somewhere, and having experienced DP from my Sunny GTIR days I cannot fault them for their workmanship and mechanical ability, they will get it right. It sounds to me as though they are trying to help their customer get the most value out of the planned mods. People on here have big power outputs, and the original poster just wants to tap into that knowledge.
Its like surgery, someone has to perform a new operation once, and then they share that knowledge with other surgeons, develop techniques etc.

David,

If I have a problem building a Pulsar engine I know for sure that Dave at DP will talk me through it without a second thought as to why I am asking
I'm sure, as would you help him with Subaru's, but, how about if it was one of your customers phoning to ask him questions about a build you were doing, or vica versa ?

I don't think there is anything directed at DP, but at the questioners, who were told very early on what they needed to do, but after 180 + posts, this thread is still going on !!!!

I suspect DP are being driven around the bend !!!

Dare I say that tuners are under no obligation to just give information away. There are less than a handful of UK tuners who have built 500bhp+ Subaru engines. All have spent a lot of time, and money to achieve that, and why should they just give it away, let alone to another tuner they have no relationship with ?

All the big tuners WILL speak to one another and share knowledge, if they feel like it, and get on with one another, its the way of the world sadly. The key thing there, is SPEAK, ie talk directly, rather than discuss it openly on a forum for all and sundry to see.

One must ask why this chap just doesn't get the car built by somebody who has done it before and knows what they are doing.

...unless there is an incentive for the chap for having his car used as a 'test' car.

I certainly wouldn't have someone build a high spec car for me who hadn't had proven success with that model already.....unless there was a massive financial benefit.

Bob

PS. I have never found any of the respected tuners on here to hold back info when helping private individuals

Everybody has to start somewhere. Remember it isn't DP asking for the advice it was A125.
DP have built many highpower cars, evo's gtirs/pulsars, porsches and I think cosworths as well (I know Dave used to drive a mk 1 or mk 2 escort with a cosworth lump in it) so they are more than capable of doing it, and from past experience they do it safely as well (cover the suspension and braking side of things)

I do agree though I would get somebody who has a track record of doing such mods/conversions due to the amount of money being spent (wouldnt want to be the guinea pig). Unless Like you say Bob there was a healthy discount.

Neilo,

I don't know what you do for a living, so that you pay your mortgate, bills, pleasures, etc', but I'd be interested to know how readily you'd work for nothing ?

Based on your criteria, you've just labled all of us an **** ! so on behalf of Andy, David, Paul, and I

Phew ! thanks for being unarsed; that was a close one. Ta !

Actually thinking about it - it was Aigin that sort of arsed me in the first place and it looks like he's not been unarsed, that seems poetic

Enough !!

Back to the thread .
