al125,

Look at Japfest, RC's evo with over 1000bhp and only 10.4 1/4 to Andy F's 700bhp and 10.2 1/4
Or Mikee with just over 500bhp doing 10.6 !!!!

Mark.

It will be the first BIG power Subaru they have done so were is the harm in asking for advice on any problems that can be avoided. They must do somethink right as the have a world (not uk) record 1/4 mile pass with one of there Pulsar GTIR's. Every one has to start some were but it's not them asking IT'S ME so i can understand what would need doing to maybe save them some time.[/quote/]

So someone now listing their spec list, does it now change your view of your build, or do you have any questions as to why, what etc.

Mate,

As far as I know the HKS kit is one of the best out there but to be honest my car isn't anywhere near it's potential power wise and it's in storage at the mo cos I'm working abroad a while so I can't really comment.

Believe the CRD 600hp impreza uses a HKS kit? May be wrong.

Dave

Daveo
It’s my fault for not saying but this car has already had money spent on it and some of the parts are already on. Im Glad that some one who knows just what some of these parts cost has posted. In total the car will have about 20k on engine alone. So you like the HKS stroker kit then? Any more info on pros or cons of the kit and what you run with it would be great. Cheers mate

(Be for some one feals the need to point it out i know im not the worlds best speller)[/QUOTE]

It’s my fault for not saying but this ........
Huh? You talkin' to yourself?

The GT30R is rated as a 500bhp turbo. Does what it says on the tin.
If you want more power, as Mark says (Lateral), use fancy fuels or get a bigger turbo. Simple.

My spec is out there, just get off your **** and look..

If you want a reliable scoob engine with 500hp then I would speak to someone with some experience.

I would say I have around 600hp at the moment, it was 562before the race fuel and the swap to a GT35/42 Hyrbrid

But if you want a full spec I would look at something similar to what I use..

Relinered EJ20 Closed Deck Block
EJ257 crank with block mods (i use a phase 1 crank in the current engine)
uprated bearings
Lateral Stroker Rods
Lateral Stroker Pistons
Ported UK Heads
Shimless Followers
Billet Valves
TI retainers
double springs
Billet Cams
Vernier Cam Pulleys
Uprated Cam Belt
Phase 1 Tensioner
ARP Studs
Lateral / Cometic Gaskets
Latest Spec C water Pump
RCMS Oil Pump
External Oil Cooler
NGK Racing 8 Plugs
Mappable ECU.. Not an OEM Remap.
FMIC
Large Custom Garret just big enough for your goals.
External Wastegate
Electronic boost controller
Wideband
Per cylinder EGT gauge
Lightened Flywheel
twin Plate clutch.
Gruppe-S Headers

Wouldnt bother with the hks stroker imho..

Id budget around 20k +

PS this isnt my spec! just off the top of my head for a reliable ish 500

Good lord!

That's the last time I complain about the 1k it'll take me to get my car up to a nice and safe, 270ish bhp

The original poster could also consult Roger Clark Motorsport for specification advice. Quite a few of the big bhp Scoobies seem to have used them at some point.

Yep, CRD use a JUN stroker kit. Comes complete with chocolate rods, of the bendy variety........... IIRC, they have bent 7 rods, yes 7 !!!.

Jap stroker kits are over priced, and you can buy the required parts for a fraction of the price.

nope, it was 450bhp at the wheels during one mapping session..

I can probably make the power without race fuel, as it was 562.4bhp at 28psi with optimax, it now runs 2bar on a bigger turbo and is a different car on the road.. much more of a handfull. Passengers now dont scream, they physically cant!!

Lol,

I think I should buy one of these big turbos to see what it can do on the rollers, then swap back to the 30R and leave the big one on display in the garage.

Sounds like the pub talk numbers are really high, so long as my engine held together long enough to produce them.

You would be better off buying this...
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=457410
Pinching the engine and other goodies, putting a std engine back and .re-selling it.

Then you could add a GT30R and remap.

This way would only cost you around 8k/9k

What you on about adam, I build my car to a spec to do what I want it to.. it isnt pub figures, its a guestimate!

I dont run it on race fuel for bumping the figures up, I run it on race fuel as its more consistent than pump fuel, and for the mileage the car does its worth it.

Still might have close to 600bhp but its not doing the times on the drag strip.. but it has done a 11.43 @ 133 with a 1.990 60ft.. cant wait to see what it will do when I get a dog box with some better ratios in it. As for the car on the road, the last videos I posted sum it up..

wallis, wasn't attacking you.

was taking the p out of myself. My car has always only ever had pub talk numbers and I was saying that my numbers arent up to much anymore, so maybe I should raise the bar for myself a little by buying the same turbo as you just for bragging purposes.

I had to be joking because I don't even use the car myself with 500bhp, so aiming for 700 ish would be pretty damn stupid.

Adam, is the car back in a running state yet? Fancy coming to Elvington at the end of October, could be good to see the car, and you, and perhaps apply a lesson or two

Would love to, but a great friend of ours, (soon to be yours), has been slow in producing a sump, thus the engine sits on stand, winged sumpless, waiting to go back into the car and have a twin plate exede fitted at the same time.

Admittedly the engine came out for the clutch and it was me who decided to wait for the sump, but that's not the point.

Whilst we are at it, can you remove the water oil separator that has been promised to me and put it aside so that it can be brought down south and not forgotten by its former owner? I am amassing parts for anodising prior to reinstallation.

thank you!

Just reading through this post, it concludes what i've always thought. Subaru's, fantastic cars with superb engineering (sp) with one thing that lets them down, their owners. Not all of them mind, but the majority. Why can't you accept what this guy is saying and give him some advice, some pointers? this isn't directed to everyone, those who it isn't aimed at, know who you are.
"Is this a joke?" what sort of a reply is this? NOT VERY HELPFUL!
Why can't you say things like, "IMO, I think it is a bit optimistc, but good luck anyway" Is it because your jealous because you don't have this kind disposeable income to put into your privately owned car or something?
I own a Fiat Coupé 20valve turbo, which beats MOST UK Imprezas. But when I've visited DP Motorsport, I've saw really quick cars, Pulsar GTI-R spinning all 4 in 3rd, in the dry and I recently went out in Louis Roberts' GTI-R whilst it was being mapped, although it was spinning all 4 in fifth at 120mph in the wet. This was ran on optimax, as we had to fuel it up before we went out in it. That was using the GT30R as stated and about 500bhp. So if it is possible for thr GTI-R to run this power/turbo on optimax, then why not the Subaru?
And another thing, why do you pick up on bad spelling? Is it because there is nothing bad to pick up on? You all need to realise that your not working against each other, a forum is supposed to be a friendly place, so why not be positive about what others say? These are the reasons I opted out of buying an Impreza, honestly.

Like I said earlier, this is not directed to everyone.
The people it is not directed to obviously know what they're talking about and share the passion for tuning.

Just seen my post of 16 October was edited by a kind mod.
Honestly, I have no idea why and cannot exactly remember what I posted. Do let me know.
In the meantime here are a couple of successful specs for around 400 bhp and nearer to 600bhp.
