sounds like the best sex tips, firm but comfortable ride

going no where near any kerbs, the tyres offer a smidgen of protection so kerbs are a no no...

so the big question is...
what is your next GB then?? LOL

couple of questions

Is this group buy open to an evo 8 owner (silver)
Quite like the look of the Rota (black with polished face) but can anyone photoshop them to give me an idea of how they would look and the other options if possible.

Thanks

Hello All

Still no sign of locking wheel nuts for me I'll check with the Mrs later to see if they've turned up this morning.

I've still not had a chance to fit the wheels, but they're now extremely well coated in Mer wheel wax.

Being a Dad looking after an 18 month old little angel/monster every other weekend (as my wife works part-time as Cabin Crew) is doooooing my head in

However.... this weekend it's wash car, fit wheels and meet time

I don't see why you can't have Rota's on your Evo fitment allowing
I'll contact one of the boys that does some PS work on the forum and see if he can help you out.
The best thing you can do is give Julian a call and find out what fitments are available for your Evo just let him know it's a possible group buy order.
I'll be giving him a call in the morning so I'll also ask him for you in preparation.

I'll be calling him in the morning so I'll let him know that there are still 2 sets short ( mick is without his also ) I'll let him know you will be calling.... you need them for the weekend meet that's a dead cert !

wrx, regarding the Evo fitment.... the GRA's will not fit but Julian does have a good selection of Alloys that will and can bring them in on the GB for you. Please give him a call and then you can discuss this further.
So anyone reading this with an Evo and wants to jump on board please feel free to post your interest. If there is some interest from the dark side I'll get Julian to send me some pictures and prices to host for you all.

Simon

I didn't get round to phoning Julian, so thanks for sorting this

I took a look at my OEM lockers tonight thinking I could use those, but by the looks of it I’ll struggle to get the locking nut and key inside the holes on the GRA's.

Just hope the lockers are here by 09:00ish on Saturday.

Default First impressions of the new wheels and tyres after a week

Just thought it would help and maybe be informative if I gave you lot my impression of the wheels after a week of driving.

OK, fitted the wheels on saturday at a mate of mine. took us a while as we are a bit slow, get easily distracted by food and attractive females
got them on with only a bit of grief, mainly down to the fact that a) i had forgotten about everyone's advice on here about sorting out a bolt wrench from halfords and covering it in some protection so as to avoid damaging the inside of the bolt holes and b) the new bolts/threads were a bugger to put on.
so after realising that we might make some marks on the wheels and me having to sign a waiver to my mate (cliff) we got them on, stood back and just admired them
Wow, they certainly draw your attention and at first I was thinking ...BLING oh my god what have I done but after 5 mins I realised that they looked great and that the colour silver was just perfect (i am sure all those who chose something other than silver will echo their choice )
The tyre profile took some getting used to, as they did look like bloody rubber bands (and my goodyear F1's are not exactly fat !!) but overall I was well chuffed. The lockers had arrived in time (thx julian) so they went on as well and they just finished it off.
Took the opportunity to rip off my arch trims, giive them a clean and then attempt to refix them. not exactly successful as we had to use black masking tape to keep them while the sealant set...classy

so this week i had my normal week of driving around to work (all around london), seeing clients etc, basically on a variety of road surfaces from motorways to country single lane dirt tracks.
and as anyone will testify, london aint your smoothest collection of roads

And the verdict??

Fantastic I did notice that the ride was slightly firmer, I did feel the really bad roads and bumps, potholes etc slightly more than before but nothing I cant live with. I did take it easy for the first 4 days on any sharp corners, roundabouts etc cos I know that the average 1000 miles still applies, but overall the grip seems great (certainly on par with goodyears if not better) and there does not seem to be any more excessive cabin noise.
(though my music normally drowns that out )

I didnt wax the wheels or do anything special to them in terms of pre-driving and after a week of crappy/good weather they still look superb.
In contrast my OZ racing wheels would be dirty (or look it) after 1-2 days or driving/braking etc. Fronts always bore the brunt of brake dust, but these still look mint.Obviously there is crap on them, but either it dosent show as much so they wear well or else they were pre-treated by Julian before he shipped them out

My car has standard suspension, no coilovers or tweaks so the ride height is as is.so would the 18" make the car look different?
Yes, not a major groundbreaking change, as suspension changes bring, but nevertheless a difference. makes the car look squatter and more grounded which is certainly a task with those rubber bands !!! No rubbing at all and this size just slots into the wheel arch as though they came factory standard

So all that waffle above means that Yes I am well chuffed with them and after you tell people the price, the look on their faces says a lot

A big thanks must go to Simon for kicking this off and more importantly seeing it all the way through and for Julian providing professional service and also being contactable (even on a saturday in my case) which is always welcome with any supplier

(oh and a bonus my caps are still on )
