My 93 wrx has started to run very poor when cold. It almost stalls when I fire it up, my air/fuel ratio meter goes off the scale showing overfuelling and if you don't give it plenty of throttle when you lift the clutch up it almost stalls again. After about five minutes it runs fine and I won't have a problem again until the next time the engines been left for a while.

I had new spark plugs fitted last year and TSL said the coil packs were fine (I asked them to check just in case)

My MOT last month was fine for the emissions test so I wouldn't think it was the lambda

I just don't know where to start looking

Anyone had a similar problem?
How did you get on with this problem have you managed to fix it yet? im still having trouble with mine in fact its getting worse at the moment it wont start, when its hot theres not a problem with it. I have a spark on all the plugs although it is a weak one and seems to spark very slowly, any help would be appreciated thanks

Thanks i'll give these a check the wierd thing is though that if i spray cold start spray in to the aircleaner when turning it over it usually starts which makes me think that the choke might not be working properly? am i right in thinking that this could be the water temp sensor faulty and not telling the ecu that the engine is cold and not giving it more fuel on the cold start? think i might buy some good second hand sensors and give them a go if all else fails i know my MAF sensor is old and looks abit nackered maybe this is adding to the problem.
Thanks
