Big debate in our house now is whether to go buyeye/Spec C or spend £8-10k on 6 speed and engine mods/new engine for the classic - Would like a reliable 400BHP rather than mega power and almost totally road based so what do the assembled masses suggest

The track day is actually Fri 16th September if Willo or anyone wants to go. Castle Coombe, Instruction included, £165. I'm already booked.
Re : your dilema. Well, it's a nice dilema.
For me it's simple - if it was my daily driver I'd take the standard spec C. If it were my 2nd car I'd mod the RA. Normally I'm pretty sure on these things but you've got me thinking....I think.
Come to the track day Willo, blast your RA round for the day and then worry about it

[QUOTE=chrisp]Who hasnt got a pink badge , my00 wrx type ra ltd
Hello mate
I have - oddly the previous owner thought a pink badge would be appropriate. Where do I get the standard one?
What number are you? 4 door? Any pics, spec?
Thanks for signing in
J
Edit.
Bizarely didn't spot the pic of the car, just the plaque . Now I geddit. I pick mine up in exactly half an hour. Given the UK a once over, it was a brief affair but I'll be sad to see her go.
P.S Poignant pic above as I currently own the car on right (Mica) and I'm buying the car on the left. My UK is even Tango'd and I've just put the standard wheels back on.

I too have rota boosts on my car now. Wasn't at work last monday so was able to get some tyres fitted up. I originally planned to get some speedlines like the ones you have....
Have you weighed the two wheel/tyre combinations? I know the rotas are mean't to be light, and the speedlines 'look' heavy.
Will post a pic of mine on the new wheels soon.
Still not got brakes fitted...................

What brakes are you going for? I was dissapointed when I tested my RA - started looking at upgrades straight away - but now they've been used properly for the first time in a few months they're actually very good. So although I don't know how fade resistant they'll be on track it means I can keep £1500 in my pocket a bit longer.
I posted another thread last night about the acceleration from 100-140mph. It's sooo strong, I've never been in a car this quick in that range - awesome!

What turbos do you have in your cars lads?
Although mine is a V5 it has a VF29. I'm trying to work out if this is a replacement turbo or the one originally fitted to the car.

I bought a set of 308mm discs on bells with some rather large aka heavy 4 pots with ebc ceramics from Godspeed. I've not really found the original brakes a problem. I have competed in 2 sprints (castle combe and llandow) but as they are only one or two laps it does not prove much on staying power.
Shame CC trackday is on the Friday - I would have definitely come along on Saturday!
Didn't realize the speedlines were magnesium............
Still no photo of car with new wheels.........been at sprint all day today in the rally car. Hill climbing the RA next Saturday......may be get a photo done for next Sunday! (don't gt to see the car during the working week sadly)

What four pots did you go for? I get on very well with the latest variant of redstuffs on the RA and did on my old Prelude. Progressive and nice feel. I'm not sure how people tell whether their pads are fade free or not. How can you tell when factors like disks, brake fluid, brake ducting, calipers and so on all come into the equation?
I do know that the lads at Honda Revolutions did a test on a number of the latest compound pads, kept the rest of the braking kit constant and with standard disks they found the RSs to be the most resistant to fade. Interesting. Maybe the OE Honda disks work particularly well with RS pads.
Shame about the trackday mate. No takers at all it seems, so it'll just be me and my mate and whomever we meet on the day.
Interested in your hillclimbing shananigans - it'd be really good to see a little write up or something.
I see an RA shootout on the horizon -miles away- but there somewhere

The calipers appear to be Jaguar/Aston judging by the application list on the pads. Bit worried about the wieght of them, but for the money I thought it was worth the trade off. Whole setup was only £525 on SN group buy. Can't really justify spending over a grand on something that may be a it lighter.
Happy to post how the hillclimb goes.........have been to the venue once before about 10 years before in a std 205 rallye - didn't really enjoy it as never got out of 2nd gear and the second half of the course induced permanent wheelspin. Anyones guess as to how it will be in scooby? Only going as its in club championship and I'm likely to be in an award winning position at end of the year.

2 Door WRX Type RA V-Ltd
No DCCD, no pink badge, no red manifold or red interior stitching and with limited edition seats. The intercooler was the same as the standard WRX (Subaru made the WRX RA variant as base motorsport cars and believed the I/C would probably be changed for a FMIC anyway). Also no side skirts or aprons.
Don't forget an entire gaggle of options could be added - bodykits, AC, Electric pack etc.
Frankly mate, it's a minefield and there's a lot of confusion and mis- information. It took me ages to work what car I had . This link
http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm
will help but even this is incomplete. It doesn't for example list my car - which definately exists.
