Personally i dont mind carp anglers but get really perplexed when i see blokes with big 14m long poles just continually hauling in 6oz skimmers, occasionally a roach or something. Ok, i can see the point if you're fishing a match but really where is the fun in that??

Thumbs up

I prefer standing in the middle of the river casting a fly for sea trout in the dark, or spinning for pike, but if thats what they enjoy, good luck to them.

Best sort of fishing there is.

I am quite possibly the worst fisherman to have walked the planet ........ but hey its gets me out of the house at 7am and before I know whats happened its 6pm and time to go home .......what a cracking way to spend the day with your mates. Never catch any fish but we have a ball firing bait at eachother with catapults.

tiddler which jumped onto my rubber hook yesterday. Most inconvenient as I was just sneaking up on my mate with a catapult full of trout pellets at the time.

Oh and before you ask yes I like putting me thumb in their mouths

Very good, Mr. Pug. But do you hate carp anglers as I do?

So far you don't need a rod licence to fish in the sea as long as you don't want to sell the fish.

Mind you they are considering the issue of sea rod licences, yet another stealth tax!

I once put a ragworm in my mates sandwich when we were night fishing on Chesil beach, he wasn't a very happy chappy. Luckily he'd had a skinfull of beer and was a bit legless so I told him after he'd finished eating it and then ran.

Not all carp anglers fish like that. I cuahgt my first 30 from Walthamstow off the top and everyone around me said it was impossible.

I also fished another lake where all the bivvie boys had been there with no runs for weeks and had 13 20s in one day, all off the top.

Unfortunately having loods of rods and the latest bait is no substitute for water craft.

Infact if I look at the 20s I;ve caught boilies come 4th after chum mixer, bread, cheese strings ( yes you heard me right) then boilies.

I think stalking is a lost art and many places really respond to the softly softly approach

Exactly Allan. I'm obviously talking about a different type of carp man.

You can talk bait till your hearts content but there is only one sure fire way to catch the buggers in my opinion ......hand grenade

Oh and if they arent available im a luncheon meat, bread, dog bickie, sausage man myself.

I don't think we're particularly bothered about what you like to eat whilst fishing, Gary.

Alan’s got it right. I class myself as a carp angler throughout, but the day I sit behind idle buzzers for days on end is the day I hang the rods up for good! Stalking is by far the easiest and most effective method, but unfortunately, as it requires stealth, it’s beyond the capabilities of most ‘instant carpers’.

My season kicked off on Capesthorne last week; torrential downpours for three days made fishing a bit grim but I managed to stalk four fish in between the showers; 14lb 2oz, 18lb 4oz, 19lb 14oz and 25lb 4oz. All were taken on freelined worm, the three smaller fish off the bottom and the 25 off the top, with the worm placed on the edge of a lily pad.

Going back up in about an hour for another go

18lb 4oz

19lb 14oz

25lb 4oz

hold on folks,
surely it's up to the individuals, as fishing is a personal thing.

i personally enjoy, setting up the gear (buzzers and pods) minimal baiting, then tucking into a few cans of stella, a smoke, and a barbecue.

whats wrong with that?

and if i don't catch anything, i've still had a peaceful day with nature and got monged at the same time. (bargain!!!!)

BB

PS: you think carp anglers are bad, you want to see the cosavan's bathing in the lakes and eating the *******!!!!!
