But when you compare to main branded semi-synthetic to a lesser known full synthetic. Theoretically, PAO or not, the Full synthetic should be a better oil than any semi synth.
Bearing in mind Semi-synth is what the dealers use (and presumably that is what PSLewis's car has been fed on for all of its life), the question begs that switching to a budget Full synthetic is better than sticking to a main brand semi-synthetic.
TBH I don't know the exact specifics....but its an interesting point to take in.
The carlube Full-synth may be worse than a main brand PAO Fully-Synth which is in turn worse than a Ester Fully-Synth.
But in turn the Carlube Full-Synth is probably better than a Main brand semi-synth.
...It all depends on what perspective you look at it.
I have heard ofTetrosyl - big chemical corperation (I think they make T-cut, so may also own the carplan brand amongst many others). It's not uncommon for companies like this to purchase their basestock from the main oil companies.

Whether it costs £12:99 or £39:99 its STILL Synthetic Oil ....
And it should do the job, just as well (over 6,000miles) as a more expensive 'Hyped-Up' Oil?

True enough, "should" being the important word here. With that being it maybe worse than the top brands own synthetics, but it should be as good or better than the semi-synthetic oil that the main dealers used before.
All in theory, of course
Most oils today are designed to withstand a 12month/12K change interval, excepting for harsh conditions. Obviously Subaru deciding that standard Semi-sythetics couldn't cope with that and thus made it 6month/6K.
Why Subaru as a Manufacturer doesn't reccomend Full Synthetics remains a mystery. But Toyota are the same, as are Honda (even the NSX). Perhaps its a Japanease thing

Or maybe its because, if it cost £40 to replace the oil as a bare minimum on their cars, people may be tempted to go elseware. As it is, it only costs around £10.
It may also have something to do with whatever 'bulk buy', or deal the car manufacturer could make at the time.
Cars are built to a price, just look at your car's interior pete!

Oil companies rely on that kind of mentality.

I answered:-
"Everyone knows that if you thrash the bollox off your Engine it will damage it - the Oil won't save it" or words to that effect
So, would you like to expand upon what you mean as you are not making yourself clear??

Its from the land where people think about what they are told and question it
Its from the land where Gold wheels are recognised as tacky and gay
Its from the land where there are no sheep and each person cuts their own furrow
Its from the land of the fearless, those that don't poop their nappies with what they read on ScoobyNet
Its from a far corner of the world that Oilman has failed to post!! He has been EVERYWHERE else selling his story and wares
Its from the land where cars are treated with mechanical sympathy
Its from the land where very fast is fast enough
Its from the land where the Engine Re-builders have no work
Its from the land where the cars are left as standard and therefore don't go wrong
Its from the land where an Oil change is done sensibly, no pathetic rituals here
Its from the land where the UK Standard Subaru Impreza Turbo Wagon is king

No, because you cannot prove it! It is just an opinion. Many of us on here are speaking from experience and just cannot be bothered to argue. You however, are just talking out of your ar$e as usual!

The point is worth repeating .............
CarLube Fully Synthetic IS a good quality oil - noone has experience of CarLube it would appear, so cannot talk from any position of strength!
Too many on here are snobby in the extreme and are not clever enough to think in Engineering terms ... thats fine, what would a Banker/IT/or Network Systems workers know about Oil??
But, luckily, I don't have to follow the crowd ........ I'm smarter than that!

If you can support your assertion that Carlube is good stuff, then I guess we all owe you a pint as it will save a few quid a year in servicing. If you've already posted a data sheet on this stuff then I've missed it (the thread is 8 pages long after all), if not then please post it up now.
