Leaving Shell, rolling from the lights - quite a few lengths there too.

I have to give you one though - when you dumped the clutch whilst rolling - your exchaust back fired like a madman and I thought something had hit my screen  so I backed off.

All in good fun though.
BTW, my S isn't stock.

SB - sorry I went off on tangent but not sure how a standard S would compare.
OH Bollox, you came here from your s2k forum just so you can taunt me(sughin fughin bughin s2k(muttleys voice))
I am still impressed by the s2k's speed and would like to drive it again, but I would bet that a p1 (standard) would beat it,if only by a few lenghts, rolling or standstill.

So far dark blue mark has made the most reliable comment, seeing as he owns both cars.

BTW amuseboy, the backfire was when I was infront,ie I ahead of you (nana nana na na).LOL!!

I've had an STi 4 and now a S2K. My STi felt quicker without question, I've also driven Mark's STi5 and it's quicker than both. Wouldn't swap the S for a Scoob though (maybe a 22b).

DBM's sti can't be compaired to an S2000! Its got over 300bhp for crying out loud! 320-odd bhp Type-R scooby frighten M3s et al and are in a different ball park to the S2000 and standard P1/Type-R's. Also, the type-R has shorter gearing than a P1 and it make a lot of difference. Every type-r or ra scooby I've been in has been brutal fast cause of the gearing.

If I had to put money on it, I reckon the P1 would win, and as you know I have an S2000. Its a funny beast, sometimes Im left thinking **** this is quick, other times Ive had things stick with me that I really didnt think should be there. Wouldnt swap it for a chav charriot though regardless of performance

That is exactly what I've been feeling!! Sometimes it pulls so hard you'd go and bait a 911 it feels that fast. Other times I find myself fearing 182s/vts/gti's and civic type-rs

The STi4 that Rich and I used to own was standard - not quite a P1 but the figures are the same.

I find the S2000 doesn't feel quick on a big wide road or motorway, but you notice the speed down a country lane.

My STi5 is pretty standard now, so if someone wants to film them side by side, id be happy to oblige As long as it doesn't get sold sometime this year

Fancy it Rich?

Dij dij dij - now now. Before you blow your top (or your engine)

Your car does sound awesome and frighteningly fast but to be honest I expected to lose. Oh well. I suppose we could always go for a rerun with a camera car to gather evidence

You're right about the backfire though - I thought you popped your engine out of the exhaust pipe

I suppose we can wait for a few weeks so that I can match your list of mods on the car....

Yeah but I drive like a wuss!
Back to with both your cars maybe

Seriously though, I'd be up for some experimenting on our own little private stretch of road sometime...
You still haven't shown me the new car either ...

UPDATE

Met up with Neil tonight and had a few runs against his cup. The cars:

Honda S2000 with cone filter in poor position within engine bay

Clio cup with full decat, r-sport chip, carbon fibre encased filter without correct feed at this time.

Honda running 1/2 tank 90kg driver, 80kg passenger.

Cup running fumes and 80kg driver.

Run 1: S2000 leading coming on to the bypass: I take it easy holding 6500rpm coming off roundabout (don't want to upset backend by powering mid-bend). I floor it and notice Neil has carried a little more momentum. Nevertheless, he is coming effortlessly past and I can't stop the damage by 90 leptons when we have to brake!

Run 2: Coming off a roundabout from a standing start, cup was 1-2 car lengths ahead when I had to brake for the one other vehicle on the road!

Run 3: Off roundabout along M8, I got utterly nailed but Neil took a lot more exit speed as again I didn't want to risk the rear end stepping out.

Run 4: 3rd gear up from 60 on M8. Cup pulled a little ot 100, s2000 seemed to pull it in very slightly by 120 leptons when we lifted

In general the cup seemed to pull fairly effortlessly on the S2000 at anything under 100mph above which its pretty even!! I'd say that the cup was pulling the sort of distance on my from 20-100mph that classic shape scoobys would pull on my standard saxo vts and I'm NOT joking!!!!!!

Neil says his bro pauls P1 sticks numerous car lengths on his cup from 60 up. On that basis it seems likely that the P1 will put 2-3 BUS lengths on my s2000 from 20-100mph That is a massive difference!!

I'm confident my filter is doing me no favours but I can't see how getting a better one would make such a difference that I could hold the cup at bay let along beat it like you'd expect the S2000 would.

Sounds like driver skill might be an issue though SB? No offence there, but once you find the limits it may be closer. You've not had the car long, so to be expected.

You didn't do a straight line test from 20 which was what your post was about?

I would have thought the S2000 would be a far superior car in terms of performance capability. Certainly on paper they are comparable with Classic UK Scoobs.

A car having the capability and the driver being able to use it are 2 different things.

My Cup would leave a standard UK turbo well behind, don't thinks its down to drive skill as I did exaclty the same thing to my pals Alfa 156 GTA. Remember my car does 0-100.7 in 14.2 secs and that was pre maxogen so i'd not expect a S2000 to touch it below the ton.

Defo not, I'm changing about 50rpm before limiter cutting, backing to 1/2 throttle and hammering it accross the gate!! If we'd done rolling 20-120 it would have been even worse!! I'd expect to lose by 3-4 car lengths at least the way it was going last night!?!?? I mean my 275bhp scooby used to only be able to put 3-4 car lengths on a standard classic so that is a big performance difference!

Either my car isn't running right in which case I'll get it fixed or the S2000s quotes 0-100mph time of 14.6s is out by at least 2 seconds in which case I might consider getting rid.

SB, fancy a go against my Saab, might make you feel a little better ?

Anyway, stop worring about f*cking performance figures from magazines, they are acheived with a car 'provided' by the manufacturer which may or may not have been 'optimised' , they are carried out by skilled drivers with no consideration as to whether the clutch, gears, engine and diff see the new year in.

So what if a Clio is slightly quicker from 20 - 80 in fifth or whatever, can your ego not handle it ? and S2000 is better in most respects than a Clio of any description (V6 Notwithstanding) and most owners just enjoy their cars rather than worrying about its comparative performance.

Like I said in my earlier (and mainly misunderstood) post, F*ck the Evo magazine BS and just drive the f*cking thing, if it starts knocking its b0llocks off/smoking then there is something wrong, if not so what, some cars (even identical ones) are quicker than others, remember my Lambo baiting Mk2 Golf GTI, that was one quick little car, punched above its weight, I used to pester M5's and all sorts, they had to work hard to get their advantage yet my supposed 260 bhp Fiat Coupe wasnt as much fun and didnt feel that much quicker, I have spent so much time fretting over cars it pains me to see you doing the same. Dont get rid of the S2000 because it wasnt quite as quick as a Clio, Japanese reliability will see it pass 100,000 trouble free miles compared to the French cars many trips to the dealers for big warranty claims/big bills.

You have bought the right car, now chill out mate !

SB, when I said driver skill it was that most of your tests were coming off roundabouts, and you said you had to back off. Agree with Jacko though, get the HKS on there and enjoy it I am starting to think of words like "Vortech" and "Garret" though
