Got it . What do I think you are? Don't know, maybe on the wrong owners club site? Did you belong to the mkIII ESCORTVAN.NET

Feel free to come to my neck of the woods. Chances of that happening though, are somewhere between slim and none. Easy to type the words on your keyboard though and recieve kudos from equally sad cyber geeks

I'd reply to some of the other posts, however, 1. They make no sense, many of you who have posted are either 7yrs old, or have the IQ of a small winter vegetable. 2. Possibly, without specifying details of any of them, or where said race takes place

A lightly modded Supra TT is going to be similar bhp per tonne to a 1300kg 300bhp 911. However, it's a 10year old GT car with RWD, not a 4WD Porsche with much newer technology. In straight line terms, I would imagine there to be very little in it. Round the bendy bits, the Porsche will win.

I do actually have a modified Supra TT at the mo, but I'm quite man enough to admit it's not as good as some other cars. (I'm a car enthusiast, I therefore appreciate all cars and do not see my Supe through rose-tinted glasses, although I do love it !)

However, it's a pretty impressive piece of kit for the money. That said, 151mph on the roads ? In Winter ? Not big or clever...sorry mate. Plus there is no way I'd push the Supra in winter, it's gonna bite me back ! They're a handful in the dry, let alone a greasy winters road. TBH, if a Saxo VTR wanted to race me at the moment, I'd let him win - it just ain't worth the risk.

Oh, and well done for 'doing a number of supras', you must have a much bigger willie

I think you'll find the 911 in question was a C2 RWD.

Could be wrong, but I thought the Supra was 1,500kgs?

Have to agree about the 151mph, though the road was quiet, that's simply too fast

Yeah I might've misunderstood a Mad Gypsy post, looked like he was saying his is 4WD.

Supra is over 1500kgs, but a Supra with basic performance upgrades is proven to be around the 380-400bhp mark (although that's a generalisation and depends on which mods etc)

1300kgs and 300bhp is 231 bhp per tonne, 1600kgs and 380bhp is 238 bhp per tonne.

We can't just asume the Supra had modifications. If standard, what would the bhp/ton be on a Supra?

If roughly the same power and 300kgs lighter, surely it's not to drastic to say the 911 is the quicker car?

Nope, I'm fine with that. A standard JDM Supra TT is at least 300bhp, and so carrying 300kgs more then it will be slower at about 190bhp per tonne.

If the Supra was bone stock, then the 911 would be quicker.

Edited due to me thinking the Supra was 1600kgs when it's 1500kgs ! So the standard bhp per tonne is about 200bhp per tonne. The UK TT is 326bhp although slightly heavier, but still about 210bhp per tonne.

Don't forget the not insubstantial torque of the Supra.

Well what can I say, there are a lot of N/A supra's about in this area (ie Poole). I used to have one and the sort of outright whooping you are talking about sounds very much like either (a) it was an N/A that knew he was beat or (b) he wasn't trying because 150 odd is a bit crazy in a supe this time of year. Also an N/A supe tops out around that sort of speed.

I now have a BPU TT supe and I would say that perhaps this motor boosting at up to 2.0 bar (I'm taking the boost down with a restrictor ring 2morro as I don't want to leave my turbos behind me on the road) would perhaps give your motor a serious challenge.

As for quoted 0-60 times pulease 3.9?????? Seriously if a supe accelerated at that sort of speed who the hell would ever buy any of the other sub 4 second to 60 motors that cost upwards of 3 times more.

The manual UK model is quoted at 5.1 to 60
even my BPU motor isn't gonna crack 60 in less than 4 seconds.

The supe does however have an awfull lot of grunt straight from 60 upwards and awesome pulling around 90.

trap speeds at 1/4 mile standard are around 105-110 and 13 seconds
10.5 and 140 ish I beleive are amongst the best.

However at these sort of speeds on the public you can forgive anyone for simply letting another car go over a ton.

Have to agree, this thread is the funniest I've read on here so far! Mad Gypsy's response to some of these threads are classic.

Someone have a go at Mad Gypsy, I want to hear some more!

Do I get the credit for starting it?

i'll add some banter LOL

My old supra (480bhp, 470lb/ft) used to rape fettled with impreza's (saxoboy(kenny) and infinity or one of those guys from aberdeen) on the 1/4mile hehe

It passed them mid may.... it would have not even broke 5sec to 60 in my opinion....

it was only once in 2nd gear (auto) that it compossed itself and shot off down the road like a rocket.

My thoughts on above ***** bashing battles.... assuming a 350bhp supra (very light mods)

Supra v P1 = P1 till high speed ahh **** it i'm bored

Dangerous Brian - you need your head seeing to if you are running 2.0 bar on stock internals and turbos, with stock fueling

Saxoboy's was hardly fettled though so not really a fair / relevant comparisson Adam. He had a few basic mods not 130 bhp more than standard!

Agreed on the bottom summary though

was still fairy quick, but not super quick. I was using that as an example as the impreza is much much more suited to 1/4mile than a supra with two dustbin hybrids LOL

yeah its boosting at 2 bar because its had some work done on the intake and exhaust side that allows it to do this. I am not leaving it running at 2 bar, in fact its going in to have a restrictor ring fitted to hopefully keep it sensible around the 1.2 bar marker.

My point was that even at 2 bar it would never hit 60 in less than 4 seconds, but in that region complete with big fmic, water injection, fuel mods etc it would easily whack a standard 911 RWD and has in fact done so on numerous occasions in London with its previous owner.

My point was that perhaps the driver of the vehicle was either not playing or was an N/A which now possibly outnumber TT's.

Hat off to the guy he has himself a stoater of a motor and if we are all honest we would be given one any day of the week. Doesn't however mean we will sit around and accept someone "dissin" our motors without passing back a bit of banter. And lets face it stupidly fast cars are all about ***** waving so i am more than happy to be accused of waving my small and inoffensive member about the place in the name of fun.

And ofcourse the Supra was standard

I'm sure once Porsche owners have read this, they'll all be selling theirs to go and buy a Supra
