Question I been meaning to ask for a while on 5-0 but not got round to it...
Middle Lane Drivers (my pet personal hate), the ones that stay there when it is obviously obviously safe to move to the inside lane.
Is that not technically "Driving without due care and attention"? IE they are not paying attention to the road conditions around them & following the Highway Code by moving back into the inside lane...
(Had a bint follow me up the M11 tonight completely in the outside lane between M25 and Bishops Stortford (3 lane section), whereas in the light traffic, I was in the inside lane most of the way
)
& if it is DC&A, then would you pull someone over for it?
What was it the RAC said? That the capacity of the m/ways in the UK would increase by 30% if people followed the Highway Code and changed back into the correct (inner) lane.

Having known Wazza for a while now, I would just like to say that he is indeed a top chap!
(OK so I am slightly biased
a few of you know why
). But Wazza and a lot of the other guys that I know are genuine good honest police officers, all of which are a credit to the services which they work for.
Nice to see you over here Wazza
and I will arrange a night for a meal with a few of the others around my way at some point soon, i'll let you know about it, if your about would be great for you both to pop down.

Am on Nights right now so You will have to find your way around all on your own, Where you off to then?
Blimey Wazza, I was "making good progress" in that area (Wycombe - Denham - Slough) at about that time. There could have been an impromptu Scooynet meet... Were you driving an Omega estate at Jn4 on the M40 just before midnight?

Nice car kip, your exhaust was big enough to park my patrol car in. Seriously nice car you got there. You spent how much on it?
Now that was a realy dodgy number plate, how you drove off without a ticket lord only knows. i must have been in a very good mood, or was it coz you had totally the right attitude. Number plate offences are not the end of the world, but it might be if you get caught a second time. Tee Hee See us Feds from 5ive-0.com are good old boys after all eh.
Dont know what happend to your mate Kip, he never came by whilst we were loitering, but then again we did blast off and leave you plodding along at 70 didn't we....... We had a real dodgy geezer in an escort cabriolet to sort out.
Take care out there and keep watching that rear view mirror.

Got pulled over on the M40 by an Omega Patrol car some years back on that fast downhill and then long drag uphill section going west past High Wycombe. I always try to get a good run up that long drag every time I pass that way even in faster cars......
Then that Patrol Car Officer told me that my speed exceeded the margin for an automatic court appearance and automatic suspension by 2 mph! I groaned and said something like "Typical just my luck for the sake of two mph". Whereupon he said that because I'd shown reasonable attitude he would drop the speed a little to allow an on the spot ticket to be issued instead.
Funny thing is that I've been stopped and prosecuted for speeding only twice in the last ten years. Why funny? Because on both occasions I was in the slowest car I've possessed for twenty years: a 1.6LX Rover Montego. Never been pulled in my faster cars also owned during that same period. The Montego was a white car ... I wonder ... whatever, I will NEVER have another white car!
When I bought my first car, for seven glorious years I could do any speed my cars and motorcycles were capable of quite legally. I clearly remember our Politicians saying that the then new Motorway network being built was designed primarily for high speed travel. M-roads of course were originally designed for speeds well in excess of today's restricted 70 mph which were quite legal. Indeed, on several occasions I clearly remember approaching a White Jaguar S-type or Daimler Dart V8 SP250 Patrol cars poodling along at 70 and they'd move over and wave you by. Imagine that happening today .... sadly, gorn forever - that environment never to be repeated I feel.

wazza you sound like one of the good guys
need more like you down here in Dyfed-Powys... i mean, what possible harm can it do running a diesel car on cooking oil?! disposing of harmful oil waste rather than it going into landfill AND not using up fossil fuel resources in one fell swoop!
(our local force's No.1 priority traffic wise at the moment, it would seem)

owbow, I doubt they mind the cooking oil, probably more worried about the lack of fuel duty. Having said that, I can't imagine anyone would pay duty on dodgy fuel which will eventually just knacker the engine. I was amazed how many people were using it on my last trip home, especially when you get west of carmarthen, suddently all the dwiesels start to smell funny and smoke like hell. J

I've been driving a number of years and have always had polite conversations with the cops when they've had reason to talk to me. Luckily I have a clean licence, mostly through their generosity on occasions.
The only time l got pissed off was when my cousin's son. [Thames Valley Police] pulled me over at 12.50 one morning, lied that he'd followed me for XXXX yards and then nicked me. AND he had introduced himself to me after reading my licence details, - before nicking me. 3 points on a clean licence under those circumstances is a little hard to take. So far, l haven't caught up with him again at a family function, but l have a long memory.
I also got pulled over late at night in Banbury, in my wife's Black Forester Turbo import about 2 weeks ago, because of a number plate 'infringement' , it's smaller than standard, but clear letters and not moved about to make words. I explained to the guy that as it was an import there is a dispensation regarding plate size and he was ok about it. THEN went on to say that ' he was surprised to see someone of my age in a car like that'. Cheeky sod ! Then he asked how fast it went!
I used to have an Inspector as my co driver when l was rallying, he maintained that most coppers are car enthusiasts and unless you are rude to them or completely outrageous, they'll be Ok with you. Which has been my experience.
Wazza sounds like one of us really.

I did my training in Cwmbran and had to work with South wales and Dyfed Powys and gwent officers...They all had different views on life. We in TVP have to much work on and trivialities get slaps.
When you get stopped the most sensible way to behave is politely. Very silly to stand on your dignity and start being all "previous" especially if you haven't given the copper a chance to talk to you.
If I was a copper and stopped someone for breaking the law I would feel a lot less like just giving a warning if the person I stopped started to make an **** of himself.

Who ever it was then was very generous..... I did a quick burst of energy to get away from an a*se rider, as soon as I braked Blue lights were flashing but ended up just slowing behind me (this is as I am pulled over) then speeding off past me. Pheeeew!!!!! (Not going fast though,,, promise) would never break the law.........
