had AA since i bough me first scoob 3 years ago.

chose AA because they cover you and not the car and i get a forces discount

Anyway, in 3 years i have called them out twice...

1. GOOD......my mate had a flat battery, they came out within the time stated on the phone, got a text 5 mins before their arrival to confirm. found problem, rectified it, recharged battery & my mate joined the AA.

2. BAD......less than a month ago my alternator belt broke, tried to get it to scoobyclinic to get a new one - made the mistake of stopping and it wouldnt start (only 2 miles from the clinic too). called AA. I make sure that they are aware i have wife and two kids, 5 & 3 in the car. im told 45 mins. after 45 mins i get a call, they are delayed and will be another 30 mins. after a total time of nearly 2 hrs waiting i get fed up and call them to have a go, just as i get through they arrive. reason for delay - stop to buy belt. AA man removes belt cover and places over electrics = lots of sparks, alarm goes like a mad womans **** and he says 'oooopps'. he changes the belt. says start her up, cant - no power what-so-ever, flat as a witches t1t. he looks at engine for 10 mins, confused and blaming alarm/imobiliser. it starts to rain (proper styleeee). windows are down and with no power they're staying down. wife, kids and sti interior get p1ss wrapped. AA man sat in his van. takes 10 mins wondering why i have no power. pushes car into a petrol station forecourt next to a petrol pump and plays with electrics - wife and kids still sat in car get funny looks from pertol station cashier. his mate tips up and realises it could be the main fuse. changes main fuse - we have power at last.........3/12 hrs for a broken belt

never the less & not sure why, but i have just renewed

better to have it and not need it than too not have it a need it i suppose.

To get back to the subject, tbh I think it's a matter of luck. I was with AA for many years with no problems at all, on average one breakdown a year, but they royally pissed me off once, and I switched to RAC. Been with RAC for three years, and I can't think of a single year of that when I've not had major problems of one kind or another. Recently I had to get the Scoob towed by RAC and it was an absolute nightmare, worse incompetence than anything that the AA had ever done. To cut a long story short, I broke down 11am Wednesday, car was finally towed away 11am Thursday. Beat that.

However, since then had two more breakdowns in quick succession since then and had no problems at all, they couldn't have been better. And I know it wasn't them trying harder because of my complaint, because they hadn't bothered to read my repeated letters of complaint. It took two months to get a decent apology and offer of compensation!

Best service I've had was Green Flag which I got cover with when I went over to the 'Ring last Easter. I won't say they didn't quibble when I broke down and wanted a tow all the way back to England, rather than a local fix at a garage. But they did what they had to do, got me towed the whole way back to the ferry, had another truck waiting at Dover to take me the rest of the way. Top marks, and according to them £1300 worth of work - lucky I paid them a one-off fee of £20 beforehand. And that I went with a club and so got a mate to tow me well away from the 'Ring and back to our hotel 15 miles away before I 'broke down' LOL

Default RAC

Been with them for years..........
Every time i've had the misfortune of using them they have always been first class, They know what they are doing and the response times are very good.
3 out of four cars were fixed there and then, the fourth had a broken cambelt, time for a tow!!!!!!!!!!!!
