Have a bottle of this a home, when I bought it in Italy the shopkeepers asked if I played rugby & told me they use it for making spirits at home.
One small sip neat & you'll feel from the top of your throat to the pit of your stomach burn...... you'll love it. We use it for "fines" on Rugby tour .....treat it as a laugh and with caution & you'll be OK.
Don't think yours is a vintage year ! (It is c.95% pure not proof)

I brought a bottle of hills (70%) absinthe back from Prague and can safely say it's mad ****.
Many a time coming back from the pub already pretty drunk I'd try to explore the hallucinagenic effects of it. I must have drunk 1/3 of the bottle once when the TV started dissapearing into the wall (still a possible side effect of lots of alcohol IMO) and the next thing I'm waking up in the morning with the worst hangover known to man, still drunk.
All good fun but I never knew about the ice and sugar trick, I was literally standing over the sink drinking out of the bottle and sitting down (close to the sink) for a few minutes after each shot to recover. It's the most foul drink ever created.

DO NOT DRIK IT!!!!
Hi Guys,
Sorry, I know this post is very old, but for future readers....
DO NOT DRINK IT!!! that is not alcool to drink, IT IS FOR CLEANING purposes!!!
I am Italian, we use that alcool to disinfect some type of surface in the house or other reasons, but it is for cleaning ONLY!!!
You can also use it to create a drink as base, for instance to create limoncello or grappa, but it is a very small amount you use and it is a long and complex process for which you need numerous ingredients and step of preparation.
But don't you ask what it is for, before buying something????
I can understand you do not find this available in the UK on in the USA, but when you are in a different country, you should remember that habits and lifestyle are different. Be careful.
Ciao

It's pure ethyl alcohol for making liqueurs (limoncello, coffee liqueur) and pickled fruit in alcohol.
Limoncello
Ingredients
lemons
8-10
95% proof alcohol
1 ltr
water
1 ltr
sugar
1 kg
Preparation
Peel the lemons and add the peel to a litre of alcohol. (The inside of the fruit can be used for other purposes). Leave in a dark place for a week so that the flavours from the peel infuse into the liquid.
After a week, you are ready to make the limoncello. Create a syrup boiling the water and dissolving the sugar in it.
Allow this mixture to cool then add to the alcohol (now yellow and perfumed with lemon) having first removed the lemon peel.
Decant into bottles in a dark place for ten days and serve chilled straight from the freezer.
