Nice map Jack

I'll dig out the spreadsheet and email it to you. Think I might have found a copy of mappoint I can use aswell

The maps an export from Stumverter, it's a pretty tidy little app. If you look closely you can see the err... bars?? heading out from the beacon thingies show the strength of the signal.

Spreadsheet would be well handy, cheers. I'm trying to get the data into Excel right now, and struggling!

Updated map for Aylesbury above, that's the end of my preliminary study. The link to the perl script above does a nice job of sorting the data for use in Excel.

Suggestions for the next town/city gladly accepted.

Jack,

Are you planning on doing anything with the results? Or was it just as a time passer

It's a study for work. No doubt we'll stir up some press interest, promote the McAfee brand and secure a few networks. The data will of course be for sale if youre interested

Jack,

What's the meaning of the green and red beacons on your map? Open and secure?

Green for Open, red for WEP... or the other way around. I'm Red, Green colour blind so don't take a lot of notice.

Leeds maybe?

There are loads of hotspots on Brighton seafront, but I admit, some are openly free to the general public so I've been told.
