I mounted mine on the flap above the rear view mirror, so its at eye level(ish) but away from prying eyes.

The GPS aerial is velcro'd to the top of the air vent tubing in the centre of the dash- under the clock panel- so its out of sight. bear in mind that these can 'see' through non-metallic materials to some degree, so don't technically need line of sight.

The laser detector is behind the rear view mirror.

Hi Bryan,

Sounds like it to me. Origin promised a modified part, but it never materialised. Eventually I got a mail saying it was only going to be a ferrite collar around the 12v on 'noisey' cars like ours and TVR's.

I bought several sizes from Maplin (detailed in a thread in General) and eventually settled on the bigger. The smaller 'split' design worked until WOT, but the bigger one cured it completely.

hope that helps... I'm using the iPAQ to send this or I'd have found the other thread (with part numbers) and added a clicky to it.

to be honest I've had it in several places and this is the best. its pretty much in the line of sight, but out of the sight of thieving scum. the various wires tuck neatly in to the headlining.

think about the aerial siting too- it works gret sat under the dash. just for the sake of clarity the one you can see on the photo is for my TomTom pda which I tend to move between cars.

Is it possible, or has anyone tried a bit of a stealth install by having it slide in / out of the ashtray?

would it have been nessecary to start chopping up things other than the ashtray itself?

I was thinking of an MY00 by the way - size of B2 is quite similar to the ashtray.
