Not offensive no, but inappropriate, as you aren't qualified to make any assessment on other peoples grief.

So tell me redkop, where do i go to get a degree in greif I have lost cats, i lost a very close cat lastyear and was really upset and going from that to the way i feel now, id say i was qualified to make an assessment on greif..........

For the simple folk......... which would be more upsetting.

a) if you lost a cat

b) if you lost your mother

simple really.

Depends on how much you care about your mother and said cat I guess. I know some people who seriously detest their mother and cannot wish for them to die, and losing a pet would cause more pain than the old bag popping her clogs, so your little argument there is a little flawed.

This thread is about somone losing a valued pet, if you think that is "sad" or the level of grief they are experiening does not match your own, then fine, shut the **** up and don't post.

Hopefully your inappropriate comments will be edited out.

No need for aggression or insults Mr M.... as many of others have said before me, you DON'T know how other people grieve, how they deal with loss, so there's nothing 'simple' about it at all!!!

keep calm, markus. imo it was a bit of a mistake to compare losing a pet to losing a child. that invited inappropriate comparisons.

Oh and on the subject of what is and is not appropriate, you could always have a look at this post in policy.

Why don't the pair of you stfu, or at least do your petty arguing on a different thread?

Sorry to hear about your car Stuey, my cat went missing last year, never seen him since (looked everywhere, put up posters etc)

I console myself with the thought that he may just have made his way over to Portishead and be happily crapping on ajm's lawn

My GF and I had to have our beloved cat, Hazel, put to sleep 5 weeks ago after an illness. It was very upsetting for both of us and we still miss her terribly. I've spent my whole life around cats and she really was one of a kind. I know you feel, I really do. It must be heart wrenching to see your other cat pining as well.

I considered a post about it at the time, but decided against it - the way this thread has gone has made me glad I didn't.

Again, I'm really sorry for your loss. Grief is grief, whoever or whatever you have lost.

Yeah, dead funny paulmon, seasoned, ha ha.

Soz this thread has turned out he way it has Stuey, hijacked by every **** and their uncle for all the wrong reasons, I'd say best post on a forum where animals are considered important m8, not in here thats for sure, but it's too late for that, take care

Thumbs up

Very sorry to hear about your loss
I've been there a few months ago, and it's not a nice time Just remember the good times. You miss them hugely, but it does get better
We still have the other one though, as do you, so give it a bit of attention, and you'll both feel better
Take care.
C.

When I was younger, our dog had to be put down. My brother took it really badly. My mum took some of our favourite photos to a woman who did animal portraits. She looked through the photos and asked questions about our dog's behaviour and attitude. A week or so later she had painted an absolutely brilliant portrait of her. It still hangs on the wall and reminds us of a great dog.

My commiserations to you Stuey, we had a beautiful tortoiseshell for many years and she died in my arms from heart failure. You will realise how upsetting that was to us. We buried her in the garden and I had a small plate engraved to put on the fence by her grave, We also have a black cat who is 17 years old and he often goes and sits by her grave.

I was sorry to see the unnecessary remarks on this thread. Maybe some should remember that grief is not black and white and such comments should be kept to themselves.

Firstly I would just like to add another message of best will here, been there as well although ours was expected as we found ut at about 9 months our miniature dacshund had a major (unoperable) hole in her heart.

Still 3 years later I think of her, as due to her illness she was a VERY major part of our lives.

We choose to have her cremated in a private place that returned her ashes to us in a small box. Very expensive but we dont have any issues about what to do when we leave a house etc.

For some people animals are more important than other humans, this is personal choice/dna and there is nothing that so say this is wrong.

I have a friend who would probably save an animal before a human being if both were dying, is she wrong?

Secondly, I have to agree with Deano, changing the essence of a post should not happen which has happening in this case. If the post is fundamentally wrong then delete it, dont change the wording to change what the poster was saying.

Stu,

Being a cat owner myself I can understand your situation, my best advice would be to start looking for a another, I know she can't be replaced as such, but it will certainly help with grief.

I'm always worried about one of my cats getting run over, but tbh I would prefer they were allowed out given the risks rather than be kept in all the time. Its all about quality of life not quantity

All the best
Tim

I'm sorry for you loss mate but the driver probably never stood a chance. I hit a cat last year, never even got to the brake pedal it was that fast.

Cats are wild animals and most non-owners class them as pests so there are bound to be a few negative posts.
Just a fact of life for town/city cat that crosses traffic.

We lost our cat last september, she was around 18 years old, we had to have her put to sleep as she went blind, she managed ok for about 3 months then she deteriorated quickly and confusion set in.
We still miss her like mad and still look at the empty chair that she used to sleep on, it does get easier but if you are like me then animals are family and the loss is pretty deep, she was a fantastic cat, always pleased to see you, wanted loads of attention and had no teeth so she used to gum you went she got annoyed.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the words of advice. Its slowly sunk in and im very blubby about it. The thing that really upset me was that I only had one meal bowl to fill. That and the fact that the girl who is simple and deaf asked my gf, who looks after her could they sow its head back on, she thinks in such simplistic terms and her heart was in the right place.

Logiclee, I realise that the person who hit it, didnt want to hurt it, but round here its the NEDs and such that speed down our street that probabily got cindy. I realise people have accidents. Hell I once got a doctor on a cycle on the way to work.
