but there was no road markings to say i should be in the right hand lane. so it wasnt right and it wasnt wrong. should have been a minor and not a fail, its just so petty.
I dont go in the right hand lane on a roundabout to turn left because theres road markings that tell me which lane i should be in, and it would cause a danger.

but there were not markings apart from the triangles and i didnt cause a danger.

If it was a one way street with road markings down the middle then surely it was obvious yu should be in the right hand lane to turn right as stated in the highway code.

One-way streets. Traffic MUST travel in the direction indicated by signs. Buses and/or cycles may have a contraflow lane. Choose the correct lane for your exit as soon as you can. Do not change lanes suddenly. Unless road signs or markings indicate otherwise, you should use
the left-hand lane when going left
the right-hand lane when going right

there wasnt any space for anyone to come into the right hand lane because so many people park on the right.

But as stated in the highway code you should have been in the right hand lane. Just accept it that you were in the wrong this time.

How can you not see it as wrong......

If some other learner had been in the right hand lane & wanting to go left, you would have both been in a sticky situation.....

I'm sure it's a fail as if in the wrong lane at a roundabout, that would also be seen as a fail as well? ie, left lane but going all the way round the roundabout.

As someone else said, accept it, move on, and get in MUCH MORE practice, and stop fantasising about the A-roads in your GT6 for now.....you need to get the basic lane discipline right first....

Yeah, so you can forget about it later like everyone else seems to have done. Lane discipline - the UK - you're having a laugh aren't you?

And learn the highway code. Without the basics you will never pass.

Tiggers,
Some of us do drive properly.Perhaps if more people took an HGV test then the roads would be a better, safer place to drive on.

Yes I know some HGV drivers arent perfect but at least the majority of us do know lane discipline.

Lane discipline - it seems much worse the further south you go. ie, I find in London, people change lanes and are in the wrong lane all the time, yet no-one gives a hoot - it, it is tolerated more.

In Edinburgh, get in the wrong lane and you'll have 30 people giving you the horn (err....the noisy type).

PoorGuy - have you been on roads before driving? Did you ever ride a bicycle? Always find it a very good method to learn roadcraft. Any DECENT cyclist would know the highway code already, and the associated basic roadcraft.

Chip,

I wasn't implying that everyone ignores lane discipline, but you have to admit it is pretty bad. Mind you if we removed BMW's from the roads then the situation would be vastly improved.

As for HGV drivers I have no beef with them. Overall I have found them to be excellent drivers and what gets my back up is when you see some numptie hogging the middle lane with a truck up his chuff. Most people complain about the truck, but if they only realised how long it takes a truck to get up to a sensible speed they'd may be have more sympathy for them and less for the buffoon in the car.

Honestly you lot, the Poor Guy has just failed his driving test and now he gets jumped on by the "Scoobynet Rightous"! I think he accepts he made a mistake, but as he says, it is *possible* that it could have been interpreted, under the circumstances, as a minor fault. I would be surprised if he really needed to be told by you lot that he should learn by his mistakes and not do it again!

There, saved from the baying mob. Thats my good deed done for today.

if we removed BMW's from the roads then the situation would be vastly improved.
oh here we go...

What all you non-BMW drivers need to learn is that we have right of way!

Angry

as i said there was no room for a car to come into the right hand lane. its a very narrow street (Copley Road) and especially with cars parked either side. so if someone HAD wanted to turn left and i was in the right lane they couldnt. so i wasnt blocking anyone.
I dont need more practice.
Ive been practicing 2 times a week since july and this was the earliest booking i could get.
and its the 1st time ive come across a one-way two lane junction without any road markings.
if there was lane markings i would understand. if the road was wide enough to justify someone could have come to my right or if i was in the right someone could have turned left the i would understand.

**** it. When they pass me ill go give em somefree donuts in their car park with the finger out the window.

so who here gets everything right all the time without instructions?

I dont think so as he said

I didn't do anything wrong.

Yep and probably end up going thru the window.

Tiggers,
Dont foget the Mercs as well for lack of road manners.

Ive still got to smash a few test centres up. OK, by failing me it cost me a few hundred £'s but when Ive finished it will cost the fuking DSA 10000K £'s.

Why's that then?

Think you need to grow up a little bit before you start driving a car cos theyre for adults only.

No they wern't, because they let all you oldies pass 1st time, every time! Which means there are too many cars already on the road. The only way they can control it is by not passing new drivers.

PoorGuy,

Dont worry about it.

If we all had to go in for our tests again, I bet a good 50% of us would fail.

I most certainly would, Im sure if I take my hand off the gear **** whilst driving, the thing will fall off!

And are you allowed to drive everywhere with your finger stuck up your nose?

I used to look at road signs and think 'what the **** does that mean.'

Know I dont even look........

Apparently my driving is 'consistant'. As Ive crashed every car Ive owned. Never my fault though.

Later Yoza

PS. As well as crashing every car Ive owned, there also seems to be a lot of crashing going on around me, havent the faintest idea why.
