i think polished is the way forward, however if there was a MASSIVE reduction (unlikely) then i would consider.

whatever happens it is a great deal!

if you do find out the reduction fine, if not i ain't fussed.

Cheers, and bah humbug to the lot of ya !

This group buy closed about three weeks ago. If this one goes O.K. we may organise another one after a few of us have the FMICs fitted properly.

Gentlemen: E-mail from H.K. this morning advising that funds still not received and our man will be away on business until 31-12-03. I am not happy about this considerable delay as the instruction to transfer was given Wednesday 17 December and when I subsequently chased the matter up was assured that it would take four working days or less. I will expedite with my bank Monday 29th and come back when there is something to report.
There are lessons to be learned for those still to transfer money. At the time I made the transfer it was, from memory, £20 for normal transfer and £40 for express, but in view of the sums involved I opted for the normal (four working day or less) service which seemed reasonable at the time.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.
Regards,
Harvey.

Gentlemen : This is very embarassing but I think I have got to the root of the problem. On Thursday 18th December I was assured the money had left London for Hong Kong. Since then I have been chasing Hong Kong fruitlessly. Monday 29th December my bank again confirmed the money had been sent to Hong Kong. I sent three e-mails to Hong Kong last night / this morning chasing the matter and with no response went to my bank branch where, sometime later I was told that the money had gone to Beijing when the documentation is clearly marked Hong Kong. It was not the fault of the branch but the International Department in London. As you can imagine I was not best pleased and made contact with the Regional Director who was on holiday, subsequently I visited the area offices and late this afternoon I had an assurance that funds would be in Hong Kong Friday but it would probably be Monday before the Hong Kong client account was credited.
The London International operation tried to explain this away as "an input error" and the local area director has agreed to take the matter up with the International Department on her return to work. I have made the point that there is something far wrong if the bank employ people that cannot tell the difference between the written words Hong Kong and Beijing and I want to know why it was necessary for me to initiate action to get to the bottom of this when surely the International Department should have notified my bank when the payment was returned.
I cannot do any more other than say I am sorry and I assure you my bank understands fully how I feel about the sheer incompetance I have experienced.
I have already sent an e-mail to Hong Kong apologising and hopefully putting this back on track properly, albeit at least a week behind our reasonable time scale.

I will report further as soon as I have anything and will post Monday regardless.

Happy New Year everybody. I hope 2004 is good for you and yours.
Lang may yer lum reek.
Harvey

C'est la vie and all that. I'm sure Hong Kong will understand that the error was in no way your fault, Harvey.

Anyway, slighty off topic, but I have to ask what does "lang may yer lum reek" mean.?

Happy New Year from me to everyone on the group buy, too.

I just have one slight concern... assuming the bank receives payment in HK by monday, how long will arranging final settlement of bill, and delivary take? Am desparate to get hold of intercooler by 19th Jan. Are they coming by ship or air??

Cheers, Dxx

Air Freight as already stated.
Payment by Pay Pal will be quickest, I expect, but that needs to be sorted out with Mr. Chan once we are up and running.
The bank charge was £20 at my bank. This is now being refunded. Big deal. There is a priority/express transmission available for £40 too, not that would have helped other than to get money to the wrong place quicker. Each individual participant will have to sort out the transfer of funds with their own bank, checking the options available at their own bank or liasing with H.K. in the event of wanting to use Pay Pal.
As soon as funds are confirmed in H.K. my priority is to get all the necessary info out to everybody so they can act immediately if they wish.
I will post when my own arrives and I am sure David MY 99 will do the same.
100$ off for self colour. Sounds like a fantastic reduction, especially if you want to paint black but I am not sure how well black paint would adhere without special preparation.
Also, how do we keep the polished FMICs shiney? Anybody care to comment.

I had a similar banking experience recently when funds did not arrive in Canada after 12 days (on a 5 day transfer) The funds had however been immediately withdrawn from my own account.
When followed up, I found they had not processed the transaction as they were "unsure of the beneficiary bank" ?? This was despite having the banks name, address, Tel No, sort code, account No, account name and dedicated IBAN No. No attempt was made to contact me. It makes you wonder if it is a deliberate ploy to retain the maximum fund level in a holding account ??

Re: Preserving a polished finish - It can be difficult in the winter with all the salt on the road A good hose down after each run would help, not sure how practical it is to get in behind the grill with the solvol polish ?
If painting, then you need to use an alluminium etching primer coat first to ensure proper adhesion (halfords sell it) Then add your heat dispersant black.

i Think for coating it you can best use a spray can of hammerite

Heat resistant and cheap. Besides that, if it's mounted correctly you'll only have to protect the side wich goes into the side of the resonator box with a piece off sillicone or so. The rest of the piping should stay clear.

Question

Hi everybody, watching this thread v closely, as have been looking at getting a FMIC, and after much research, the HYBRID version is by far the cheapest option! Will wait til some of you have fitted (especially if to a MY00 STI with Air-Con) to see if your happy with them! I was too late to join this Group Buy, so if any one who has ordered has changed their plans/minds, I'd be happy to buy your kit from you when they arrive!

Just one concern, in the reply E-mail I had today from Roger@Powerdigger.com he states the battery needs to be changed for a smaller item! Not sure if all of you were aware of this, but not a huge problem even if so!

Also, I can't find a pic of the pipework from the Turbo inlet side, so not sure how much room there is for Induction kit (Blitz at the mo so might need to change that aswell!)

Anyway, I will keep a close eye on the thread, and please if anyone has photos/description on when they fit their kit, post on here to help others in future!

Cheers, Pickle
