This is in danger of spilling into a silly argument.
I understand where NWS is coming from, for the person in question i very much doubt he realised that this has caused a problem and that so much feeling has been generated by it. I am very surprised by the attitudes of some here, who seem to think that they can say what they like here and it will not be taken the wrong way.
The gentleman concerned is one i would call a friend, as would NWS, he is also a very keen scooby enthusiast who devotes time and effort to helping out, as well as taking time to help out if you have ever had a problem with your car. For mistakes he makes on track I cannot comment, but to have a thread like this on a board the size of scoobynet is frankly rediculous and insulting.
If any of the offending/offended parties wish to continue this conversation, I suggest you post a thread in the 'was it you' forum, entitled "White WRX at Trax" and have a civilised discussion, rather than dragging names through the dirt on this BBS.
I never thought I would find myself reading Bull**** slanging matches like this on this forum, and that it has not been locked by the mods at this stage is a disgrace.
Let's grow up a little shall we? I can understand the arguments, and the feelings of all involved, but this is in very serious danger of overloading and I don't think anyone wants that.

N.B. Well done Phil Stevens and SIDC for even offering to mediate, nice to see the 'officials' doing their bit!

I only made a passing comment LOL. Wasn't trying to get into an argument - and avoided name calling. Just that this is a discussion board an i discussed the fact i was held up by someone not displaying track etiquete.

I agree the namecalling isn't on - but the discussion is valid for us involved - more so others than me.

and that it has not been locked by the mods at this stage is a disgrace.
Both fair & unfair criticsm I guess.

Not locked because it is a thread about an event and there are quite a few sub-threads coming through. Locking it now would fragment any reporting on other people's days/experiences etc. Best to keep it in one place. Also the usual one of I haven't noticed how its been degenerating into a verbal, 'cos I've been elsewhere.

If something seems out of order for any reason, then please use the RTM function to alert the moderators - we're likely to act much quicker.

So the fair bit - it does seem that this is degenerating into a slanging match against this chap and his friends. That is not what SN is about. As stated previously, this should be dealt with at the time by the peoples concerned, not brought on here afterwards. That is also what the marshalls are for.

I would guess that this chap will have his friends point out the criticisms that have been leveled against him here and I would imagine that he will learn from them.

I'm not going to lock this thread but would ask that the subject of the white WRX be closed.

Thanks

Sid. Appreciate what you mean, but I do think that this should now be taken up with the party concerned, not carried on here.

Just got to say I had a gr8 time on the afternoon session and it was my 1st time on a track.
To say it was a bit of a shock and a quick learning curve is an understatement. I was the 2nd car behind the 2nd pace car and in front of me was a P1. The warm up lap was a bit faster than I thought it would be and after copse the P1 was disappearing fast. Went through the 1st chicane ok. Arrived at the next one not knowing what lay ahead and how tight it was in the wrong gear with too much speed on cold tyres. As a result had a full opposite lock right followed by a full lock left as the pendulum effect took hold and I was then back in control. God only knows what the guy behind me thought so appologies to you whoever you were. Soon got into a groove and during the session pulled over and let 5 or 6 fast cars through. Hope I didn't hold anyone up unduely and from what I saw people were driving with consideration for others, but not everyone it seems from what I've read.

Just to reply to twig, then i wont say anymore about it on here:
I only ever meant it as a comment related to my day. Not to slag them off, and I appologise if you feel I shouldn't discuss my view of the days events on the forum.

Wish I had gone as well in retrospect, was offered some track time as well, but since I still have a misfire issue I couldn't really risk it.
Glad to hear it was a good day all in all, will have to try and make it next year and see if I can get out on track. Am intending to have some trackday instruction first though as I have never done it.
Sid, for the record I wasn't actually referring to you, and I was trying to stay as neutral as possible. I apologise to anyone if this did not seem the case...
Matter Closed.

So someone tell me more about the Spec-C, was seriously impressive at rallyday, I gather it performed impressively again?!

I do hope that the problem for chris's white wrx is not too bad, because it is a very quick car. Nobody likes to see the misfortunes of others however their feelings.Didnt want this thread to go the way it did, people are people and being a public forum can statte their opinions. As i said, hope its not too serious.
Shame i missed the spec c, might go and test drive one Ed......

Worth a go mate, I have seen a few going now, and if I had the money I would have one without a second to think about it.

P.s. Looks like a knackered MAF and nothing else, not too serious I am told.

Let's hope it isn't too costly for him to fix, and hopefully will take onboard peoples thoughts for tracking. I thought the flames were excellent

When I passed he had lots of white smoke from the exhaust, so maybe the turbo...

Noz - the missus has given me the nod after yesterday, but I need to see how the venture pans out. Plus I still love mine.

Totally agree. That's the main thing to have a bit of fun. Enjoy the drive and let others do the same. If people don't respect others space on the track and don't play by the rules I'd sooner not bother. I think the vast majority of scooby drivers are very considerate though.

Flames seem to accompany MAF failures though, my MY99 was flaming like mad in the two weeks leading up to the MAF going!

si dont think it was the turbo mate and when i got there it was black smoke out of the exhorst and stinking of fuel and miss-firing then unplug the maf sensor and it was ten times better.

Cool, was he able to drive it home? Sounds like he has avoided major damage then?
