personal plates - opinion ?
Quite a funny one this.
Do the people who put different spoilers/lights/alloys/mudflaps on the car do it because they get better performance? Can't really see it from a set of clear indicators.
And yes I've got some.
No, they do it because the car looks better in their eyes. Same as a plate. The added bonus with a plate if you get a decent one is it does appreciate in value. Plate on my wifes car is now worth 3 times what I paid for it 8 years ago so made financial sense. Especially with todays interest rates/isa's etc.
Just my opinion.
Alas

I've got one on retention, was given it as a present for my birthday and I'm quite looking forward to having a decent car to put it on! It's just a simple letter, 2 numbers and then my initials. It doesn't try to spell a word or anything silly, just personalises the car for me. To anyone looking, it wouldn't look like a personal plate which is what I really like about it.
There's an Audi TT round here that sports the plate G1NA D, one of the few "mis-spaced" plates that I like.

Place I used to work there was a receptionist called Sharon, Nice girl, attractive in the way that Pauline Calf is.....
Anyway, she bought an old shape MR2, and adorns it with one of the tastefull Irish plates, cue me being all impressed at her 'private plate', well it read SAZ 132879132978132789132789 or something similar, not sure about the numbers but, I said why did you get SAZ is it an abreviation for Sharon ?, 'No my name is Sharon Anne Zeta'
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, what a load of crap, sad act.
About 99% of private plates fail miserably, then just occasionally one goes past and you think
I will give you that, nice one

suppose this is naff

naff plates IMHO are the £50 jobs that have more numbers than a dartboard. My £250 one all in is of course far superior

I bet even Nacro would like that P1 plate. Like Apparition, it is my opinion that it is such an unnecessary fuss that it is not worth letting it get under your skin. Hardly worth jumping up and down about. Wonder what Nacro meant about "that plate" though?

Depends what the plate is, really. For example, a Guernsey Porsche has the plate '911', which IMO is rather cool. Similarly, I've seen a Beemer with the plate 'M3 BMW', which is quite smart.
What irks me is people who have plates which mean something to them, but nothing to anyone else. My dad paid extra for B8XXX where XXX is his initials. It just looks naff, as nobody even realises it's a personal plate except him!!!
The only one I'd consider buying is OTW4Y, but the DVLA won't release the bloody plate, so I'll just have to do without.

As tacky as a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat in Blackpool.
You just know every M3 or TVR will have those symbols on their plate before you even look.
How original.
