I think Cem was making a point that the thread is resorting to cheap slanging.
You have just proved a point by merely insulting rather than discussing.
I am not attacking you, but I do know you have the ability to arue constructively rather than by simply hurling insults.

Is the problem with weight distribution figures F/R just that it is only measured at two points and doesn't give away entirely the problem of weight behind the rear axle?
Simple question with desire to learn not a desire to be flamed. Flame me and I won't reply or bite back as it gets boring.

Claudius,
I've been reading this thread from post no.1 and if it makes any difference at all, then I replied way back on page 4.
But then you've proved again how childish you are by resorting to insults and personal attacks. Anyway, I'm pretty positive that I don't like you, so I'm not entirely sure why I'm trying to make a point for you....I'll try one last time.
Millions of people around the world love Porsche. Expert journalists rave about them, kids dream about them and middle aged folk feel good about driving them. I accept that YOU think it's a crap car, but are you that intollerant to deny anyone else their reasons?
If you can't accept this, then there is something fundamentally wrong with you. In fact, if I remember, it's people like you who start wars.
Now this could be a massive wind up, it may well be because it's bordering comedy. And if it is, I'm going to hate myself for getting involved.

Mycroft/Claudius,
Effectively what your saying is it all boils down to 996 TT,Soarer or EVO, if you would prefer an Evo in your garage then fine. I'm amazed at the diversity of 'taste'. However I'm happy that I've not got the same taste as you two, as it proves , even if just a little that I'm not the same as you. Which for me is a big plus.
Claudius,
My German is fine(perhaps a little too polite for you), perhaps we'll meet face to face one day and I'll personally get to show you what I think of your insult.

PMSL, Claudius and MyCroft you are indeed both lunatics
And no MyCroft, you're right, F/R dsitribution in isolation is not the whole story.
I understand Claudius, he has said that for him the EVO is the best car in the world, and that's a fiar point. He uses smilies (some might say to excess) when he's poking fun at people.
I don't, however, understand you Mycroft. The 911 is not your favourite car that much is clear. What I don't understand is why you feel the need to fly in the face of virtually every car driver/journalist/enthusiast on the planet and try in vein to convince peole it is actualy a bad car?

My view, sicne you have asked is that Porsches are out of date and to a driver with a lot of fast miles to cover the car is not up to scratch...
When pushed they scare the hell out of the average driver due to the kinematics.
They should be sold at about 2/3s' there present price... that would more accurately place them.
I would drive 300miles to get the chance to drive a '72/'73 911 2.4S/ 2.7 Carrera... I wouldn't drive 30 miles to drive a modern '911'... and I am not really an 'old car' fanatic.
To me that puts the modern Porsche in perspective... it is built on an old format, it was at its best 30 years ago... it is a motoring dinosaur, trouble is those older cars were 'raptors' and 'corvids' the modern cars are Brontos'... bigger more robust but clumsier...

I've read this whole thread and its amazing. I cannot beleive how closed minded you are Claudius. To not even consider anyone elses opinion as valid is what uneducated children do.
The fact that you can only seem to reply by making insults and plucking unsubstantioned facts makes you appear unable to convince anyone hence you then go onto be rude. I won't insult you further by expressing my perceptions of you as thats not fair.
There have been some valued opinions on here and whilts I;ve not driven a 911 I do like the look of them unlike the Boxter. Like any expensive car many are bought for the image with scant regard for the engineering quality. Yes I know people with 911s and they were both arrogant idiots. The fact is it is an old design that has evolved and it has its flaws as do most cars. Sometime those flaws give the car character !
Cast your mind back to the 80s. The Golf GTi was king. It was bought for image not for its engineering qualities which it wasn;t lackig in, yes it was a very good car but the best hot hatch ? The best hot hatch in 1984, in my opinion and that of several magazines was the Fiat Strada Abarth but who the hell would buy a Fiat ( remeber rust !) over a VW a product with a percieived image. I bough two Strada Abarths and compared to the 205s and Golf GTis I bought it was in a different league.
Point is people buy different cars for different reasons. Not many Porchese are slow and I don't doubt a heavilly modded Evo could be quicker if thats what you want. Some people would rather pay more and have something with a better image, if thats important to them, and own something that doesn't depreciate .
I bought my Impreza brand new and could have afforded pretty much any car I wanted. The Impreza suited me . Had I the room for several cars then something like A GT2 would be on the list !

I'm not narrow-minded at all. No idea where you got that from. Perhaps you dont see that I am speaking from a PERFORMANCE perspective. I do not question that a Porsche is better built, has a nicer interiour, hell, I even think a GT3 or GT2 looks nice. Friends of mine have these cars. The acceleration is ok on the GT3 (unless you take price into consideration) and good on the GT2, but they are very difficult to drive fast in corners; I dont find that exciting or rough, but wrong, and the weight on the rear axle or even behind it seems to explain that to a certain extend.
As for education, I have been to school and University in 4 different countries and speak 3 languages fluently, thank you very much

You, for example, say that you would insult me if you didnt see it as unfair. Why is that? Did I offend you?

I sold the first one, one was enough... I thought. But now I'm getting another one ! (modified of course ) It's not unfair, it's life, it goes up and down. You'll have a faster car than me one day. Erm, no, let me reword that: you'll have a more expensive car than me one day LOL

I'm quite serious... each Summer the Mycroft can be found in an open car... it is really only for the beach etc... I like open cars... I've had an Aston, Ferrari, Jag, Stag, 911 cab, Merc. cab, on my driveway for the summer... I don't always buy them, this Pox-star will be the first German car I have ever bought... 2.5Tip White/Red Leather.
I never give views about cars unless I have driven them... so I drive lots...

cor its a good thing we don't all base our opinions on a single car and badmouth them at every opportunity otherwise I'd have to run round sl@gging off the scooby to everyone as my mate's mum's lover's ex-wife had one that blew 2 engines so they must all obviously be utter fvcking useless pieces of ****...
don't you agree?
Thankfully I'm not so blinkered as to completely write off or ignore other peoples experiences so I can see that maybe they're not such bad cars after all.
Anyway, I'm sure you and the boxster will form a lovely pair.
Regards

That is why I never re-counted the episodes 'til now and only previously showed examples from the club site... but it seems the car was not so much a rogue as quite 'average' and by that I mean not very good.

gotta agree with mungo there
I have about 300lbs/ft of torque from my ka, ( about 960kgs without me in it ) and easily chased a Porsche GT2 through Northamptonshire but can't say that he was using everything whereas I know I was going for it!

That's a shame because I considered it a very intelligent and very smug response, and was not in the least disappointed by its effect.

ITs unbelievable how mycroft has to convince every single person in here that a 996TT is looking crap.Mycroft thats down to your eyes now i think you should have them checked because if you think that your family super fast flying soarer is looking much better then thats down to your personal taste. Why do you try to convince us that your car is faster than most of the top performance cars around(which i doubt), you don't have to brag about it because there are cars that will humiliate your soarer....Get it right.
As far as the Porsche 996Biturbo is concerned i can just tell you that you are either blind or jealous of it.

Forget all the tuning and mods for a moment. I'm a big Porsche fan - I hope it won't be too long before I own one (although not in the GT2 / Turbo league )
However, the car I would like to see it up against would be this:
Noble M12 GTO3R - 365bhp / 385lb ft torque. Not as much power I agree, but factor in weight and you have a power-to-weight ratio of 375 bhp per ton (a GT2 is around 320). Would be a very interesting fight. All for 50 grand
