Yeah mate...
I work in Perth and I know people who hang about with Ryan, they tell me that his car is pretty damn fast...
You going for a Swift or a 205 then?

Sounds to me like you just want to hear 'buy a Swift'.
That's probably not a bad idea. I know bugger-all about them but my bro-in-law has just started hillclimbing one and he wouldn't have picked it if it was crap.
Alternatively how about an early 8V Ibiza GTi? I saw one of them on Bilsteins worrying Cupra R's at a SEATCupra.net trackday a few weeks ago.

Well, its a bird who I work with...
Caroline, she's blonde and very good looking!
She's actually going out with the guy who now owns that Swift...
I have seen the STi kicking about too, looks very nice!

Its really depends on what you want. I looked at a number of cars to run as s second car the the Scoob. I drove a number of 205s and was very disappointed after having a couple of Strada Abarths I couldn't see what the fuss about the 205 was but after a driving a few other cars the 205 was clearly better than most. You will really need to work out the insurance and check your prioroties.
If I were you I'd got the AX GT route as they are cheap to buy and run and have a low insurance grouping and give good MPG. OK the seats and not very good and they are quite plasticy and not good in a smash but they are cheap so you can put the money you save towards something better.
You should definitely check the Charade out. Don't take mine as a good example as it isn't . There are some seriously good looking examples out there and with some minor mods they go link stink, quicker than a standard Scoob.
Re the Swift. They are rated quite highly. Engines are good , bit lacking in torque and the handling is pretty good too. I cannot voucher for the durability of the cars though and have heard the gearboxes are weak but that just what I;'ve heard on various chat rooms.

Its a bit weird going from an Escort Cossie to a Swift GTi, unless he REALLY has a thing for Swifts!!
I wish I drove a Cossie, I drive an RS Turbo at the moment and I work in Halfords down in Perth so get a few cheeky discounts!!

Ok, just read your post properly, it was late when I posted that!!
I'm not sure if I would go for an STi after a Rally-Spec Escort Cossie... But I would be happy if I even had the chance to drive either of them!!
