Shame I don't have the pistons after regular single shots of my 150bhp jet,or I'd post up some pics.
Managed (after the 2nd re-build) to compress the crown of all FOUR pistons down, so much, the rings were stuck solid in the groove.

£55 quid a piston, didn't really matter.

Not quite so sure about being such a loon with the classic.

Andy,
I might be after some advise on the "softly softly engagement, technique.

You'll love the way it comes in Rob, I was such a hooligan with it on the pug, It lit the tyres up in third by just planting it,

Andy

p20spd used to have a nitrous kit..

I am not fitting it yet, as so far during running in my car is showing its potential.. ask Pavlo.

anyway..

Im feeling better now, and feeling motivated.. so Im off to the garage.

Also Big thanks to Jason.. Fooking massive idle control valves

Nice one Dave

Everytime someone mentions nitrous, all i think about is my little 106gti running 170bhp plus 150nitrous jets

Had to go for a scoob when the engine went pop for the 3rd time in 18 months of ownership, wonder why

Ahhh memories

just a quick interuption to say my car is back on the road after it destroyed big end #1,3 at TOTB2. Pat was passing and ended up staying 5 days to help me with the strip/rebuild, i think he is adicted to this stuff.

Thanks to everyone in the team at TOTB2 for making the day great despite lunching my engine and to steve, mark and trout who helped me get home after the AA, RAC wouldnt help.

So far 130 miles have been covered and all is well, it fired at 2pm on friday after a hard weeks work over at Prosport.

I see a trip Leeds way during the run-in coming soon.

OK, back to the thread.

I managed to sneak in some spy shots of Project Wallis Phase II...

Here we are carefully installing the main bearing shells...

Installing the crankshaft was a bit of a bitch, it was still damn heavy despite having it race specced with hollow journals!

Cheers,

Pat.

Cool

I still think the starter is too small..
I know this is said in jest David, however the motor in the piture is not used for starting, it is only used to rotate the engine for maintenance purposes. Air valves in each cylinder head admit 6 bar of compressed air into the cylinders just past TDC, (depending on which way you want the engine to rotate) this kicks it into life very quickly. Something like this will idle at approx 20 rpm and rev to around 130 rpm max !!!

ps I 'served my time' on this type of thing
