In the event of teams finishing on equal points in either Group, the right to play in the Super Six stage will be decided in the following order of priority:

The most wins in the group matches.

When two teams have both equal points and equal wins, the team which was the winner of the Group Match played between them will be placed in the higher position.

When more than two teams have equal points and equal wins, the team which was the winner of most number of matches played between those teams will be placed in the higher position.

If still equal, the team with the higher net run rate in the group matches will be placed in the higher position.

If still equal, the team with the higher number of wickets taken per ***** bowled in the Group Matches in which results were achieved will be placed in the higher position.

In the highly unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by the above this will be done by drawing lots.

Hey, i never threw any stones, i was simply commenting on the state of the english affairs. To put it lightly, England must beat Australia to get through to the Super 6. Not too hard is it

In the highly unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by the above this will be done by drawing lots.
Wouldn't that be controversial

Drum roll please..... and the winner is...........

I heard that if we lose to the WC 2003 champions and with the other teams doing us a favour,we could still quailfy...If the zim lose to pak and ind beat pak, will could get thru but that will only happen if our run rate is good,so a big loss on sunday must be avoided...Its probably highly unlikely but i have to have some hope.

Btw just wondering is NZ guaranteed a place in the next round even if they win their next match??

There is still a flicker of hope for England!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Sri Lanka just beat the West Indies, so that means that we just have to have a better run rate than Sri Lanka and we are guarenteed a spot, if we don't, then it comes down to some results of other games. I just want Bangladesh to beat the ******* Kenyans. Then my mind would be at ease

If we don't up our run-rate then if South Africa beat SriLanka, New Zealand won't go through. We need to beat canada so that our run-rate goes past 1.4!! Nervous times in the next few days. Judgement day for english tonight. I'll be going for England tonight

Bloody aussie b*stards!!!,how do they do it??..They were being soundly beaten by England and bloody Bevan and Bichel come along and see them through with 2 ***** to spare

Anyway even if we had won it still would of been down to the zim/paki game on tues, atleast now theyve got something to play for..Come on pakistan but don't win to quickly!!

A nice quote from beefy Botham after the game "we'll save the win against the aussies for the final"

So SL have to win and you have to beat Canada by a BIG margin,so its looking tight for our teams..Now whos going be upset next week

Hey! It ain't over till the fat lady sings.

I'm going to be up (hopefully not too late) tonight watching the game, should be a good slog-fest. If SL beat SA then we go through, if SA beat SL then we have to have a better runrate then SL. Simple really

As for you Poms!!! All you had to do was get bloody Bichel out!! You did all the hard work. So Pakistan have to win, but by not too much..... bloody tight-ropes

Cool

Run rates out of the window now,its down to SL(268-8)to hold on and beat SA..Should be a entertaining 3 hrs under the lights

LOL I bet theres some pissed off S africans tonight,1 run on the D/L method would of done it and the pillock Boucher decides to block the last ball before they went off and now its history and i must say the kiwi's are lucky on the night but SA had the chances in the other matches but overall looked a second rate team IMO and the better teams are through.

Now NO!! gloating Thescooby

The fat lady was on the stage, and she was just about to sing

I was listening to it on the radio, i just couldn't believe it!! What poor team communication. Boucher thought they had won, which was correct, IF they didn't get a dot ball on the next delivery. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

The NZ game was a joy to watch, if not at times INCREDIBLY frustrating. Fleming committed suicide, astle went cheaply and cairns lollypopped one. But some huge hitting from certain members, it was great stuff. Looks like we have found an absolute gem of a player in Scotty Styris. It isn't looking good for England i don't think, it is pissing down in the Paki, Zimbi game. ZImbabwe go thorough if it is a draw. A "tropical cyclone" has settled on the ground apparently, sorry mate, i think the fat lady has sung for the English cricket team.

Okay, i've held this off for this long, GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT

You're a smart better planky The rained out match was a pretty big anti-climax.

I really can't believe that teams like Zimbabwe and Kenya get through, and teams like West Indies, South Africa, Pakistan and England didn't. But i guess that is the world cup, on any given day.........

We need to give Zimbabwe a good walloping for you And to give us some much needed confidence. Your money is safe with us

Those semis seem pretty logical. ALTHOUGH

Win v other qualifiers - 4 points each (Tie or no result - 2 points each)
* Win v non-qualifiers - 1 point each (Tie or no result - ½ point each)

That leaves us with a ridiculous 4 points, and Kenya get 10. That means we must beat India or god-forbid, Australia as well as Zmbabwe, to get to the semis. Joy to the world. And looking at the current points table, what on earth is wrong with the run-rates? Kenya now have 2 point something and we have negative one

Should be interesting watching over the next week, I would love to see an NZ v Aus final, match made in heaven

I heard Kenya only need one rained offmatch to qualify for the semi's and looking at the aussies points they are through all ready.

So it could be a right scrap for the last two places

We have to beat Zimbabwe which is tonight, should be a cracker, then we have to beat india or aussi. 2 from 3, and nothing less, Kenya are like a cow in the middle of the ocean, no chance.

I'm going to see the Blues play the Crusaders in the Super12 tonight, then watching the cricket. It doesn't get any better than that

It was still convincing, we always had it under control. Great century from Astle, and that was with a hernia and I think a knee problem which needs to be operated on after the world cup

Bloody india gave me a few heart flutters after that lack-luster performance against Kenya, i never thought id say this,. but thank god for Ganguly. BRING ON THE AUSSIS

Nearly but so far..You got to admit they are bloody good and from 87-7 the games won but not with Bichel coming inand then Lee bowling..It reminds me of our match but the other way round, came closer but still lost

Bond had a good game and India is D-Day for the kiwi's now.

The term "collapsed like a pack of cards" comes to mind. Bond was absolutely brilliant, fleming was solid, everyone else was rubbish. 200 runs!!! That was all i wanted India have no reason to try, hopefully they rest Tendulkar, if we beat india, then we get a semi spot, and incidently, we get to play Australia again.... If we lose, and SriLanka lose, then we go through but still have to play the Aussies. The game just confirmed one thing for me...... Pointing is my most hated sports person, stupid little wombat

I heard somebody say "winning is a drug and the more you win,the more you want it" so will India want to go into the semi's with a loss..We'll have to wait and see

Btw What about Kenya!...Its amazing that 'walkover' against the Kiwi's has literally got them all the way to the semi's,truly amazing.

Bugger it all, .
I hate Kenya, I hate Australia, I hate India and most of all I hate the new Zealand cricket teams brilliant ability to self destruct at THE most inappropriate times. If our team was bond and fleming, we would be away and laughing. A coloumist in the paper this morning made a very good point. "Did the selectors pick too many "all rounders" rather than specialists?" It was a good point, and I think if you look at teams like Australia, India, Sri Lanka and others, this seems true.

I'll be in denial for a few days, then i'll get over it in time to see Ricky "I'm a wombat" Ponting holding the cup above his head, it just isn't fair

It still could be a tight final if Tendulkar gets a ton+ and the indian bowlers get stuck in,you never know

Personally i'll be happy to blow another 10 quid if Australia lose

It would be a dream come true for the Indians to beat those bloody aussies in the final. You know who i'll be going for. As for your little wager, pretty good idea, no matter which way the game goes, you win Tendulkar is the key though....

Tendulkar is a great player, of that there is no doubt, but the reason India have got this far is due to the other batsmen playing well eg Dravid and Kaif. Also the bowlers have done well = Srinath, Khan and Nehra. The day / nighter against Kenya will be interesting as the second team bating will have a disadavantage.

I think Sri Lanka have a strong chance of beating the Aussie's tommorow.

Sri lanka did beat the aussies in the VB series but SL haven't looked that good in the WC IMO,so i still fancy a India v Aussie final and hopefully there be new world champions at the end.

Question

It WILL be a India Aussi final, no doubt about it. The India Kenya game will be interesting, if the two teams were even then the side winning the toss would win, but seeing as the teams are not even, could make for some interesting viewing. Sonu, have you seen Tendulkar's average for the World Cup? He is the leading run scorer, I agree that he has had some very valuable assistance from Dravid, Ganguly and Kaif. But he has done a LOT of the work. As for the bowlers, Srinath is a class act, he was the only player that stood out for me in the tour they had here. The rest of them were rubbish. Aussies are 111/3 after28, as I type
