Fair enough - it never occurred to me that you might have a Mac 
For what it's worth, USB 2.0 is actually a bit faster than Firewire - 480Mbps vs 400. USB 1.1 can do either 12 or 1.5Mbps.
I wonder how long it'll be before we see solid state players that have the same sort of capacity? I think the personal stereo will truly have come of age at that point - they can be half the size again and will be really shockproof. If an acceptable amount of money today buys a 256MB flash card, I give it three years...
