[Cough] Our own little Free racetrack![Cough]
Mark,
Yes, CVC done it on Friday afternoon.
I would get in touch with them as they told me they'd get back to me....Two weeks later I phoned them.

Came here searching...found it.
I have a MY97. I have the rattling in the right rear side of the car. Supension is Bilstein damper with eibach spring. No lowering has been made. Don´t know what else to do. Been almost everywhere to fix the problem but the crancking noise always comes back after a while. Problem is the same as ever: the support that holds the upper end of the suspension has some kind of problem. I´ve been told to remove my rear strut brace as it may push hard the dampers. What can i do?

Hi apinto!!
The problem discussed at very great length on Scoobynet is, as far as we know, limited to STi(7) Type UK, tho' there are suggestions (with which I concur) that some STi 8s suffer also. At first sight, therefore, it is likely that your problem is something else, especially as your suspension setup is completely different.
I hope one of our suspension experts may come onto the thread and answer you: but this STi problem is 'old' now, and many people will have lost interest (except those whose STis still rattle ) If you don't get an answer, I suggest you start a new thread.
Of course, if Celtic win, you're much more likely to get an answer

As for the soccer game well...you know who has won. Great game. Celtic played extremely well. Loved the scotish crowd. You guys really make the diference.
Cheers UK.

Hi Apinto
I have got a MY97 as well. Good you didnt lower the car. Can you describe the noise better? Is it a queeek or a knocking sound or a rattling or does it sound like a spring making noise or what?
What do you mean by upper end? The top mount rubber thing?
LOL

mine went in today to be fixed, tried ordering a set of lowered springs to be told that they wont fit as the new spring and topmount is of the 8, i think the only solution is to wait for the spings for the 8 and get subaru/im to replace the other strut topmount foc

deer hunter, where did you get your 8 from as a matter of interest?
Mines still clunking away and now the o/s one is starting to join in the fun. Once somebody has a fix, then i'll let the dealer molest my car in their vain attempt to sort it. It's like asking them to play darts in the dark!

Spoke to mainland yesterday and told them of the problem, my car is going in tues for the PPP and after a five min discussion i was told 'we will order the part and sort it out at the same time to avoid inconvenience to you' - thumbs up so far to Danny and Bob! - cant say fairer than that!

finally a solution to the problem:
picked the car up at 5.30 this evening, now i dont here the banging from the suspention as it is drowned out by the ppp!
so the easy solution to everyones problem:
you need a ppp to sort it out easy!
seriously though was told 'the car would benefit from a rear shock but it hasnt arrived yet we will see you next wed...'
'I'll be back'... (hopefully BEFORE Terminator 3 comes out....)

Both my sti8 struts must be dodgy as they both clunk.
How loud is your PPP pack. I know it's a subjective thing, but does it turn the car into a 'stop, stare and moan' object if you nail it?
I'm tempted, but I put a S/steel exhaust on an earlier scooby I owned and had to take it off after a week as it attracted a lot of extra attention. All right if you like that sorta thing, but things are bad enough as they are...
Discretion etc. (HA! in a sti8! it's like driving round with your willie hanging out - everybody notices)

Andy Gough - it is a croud pleaser.... but the difference to the car is astounding. Ps get the struts done as it is noticable with or without ppp.

Surprise, bloody surprise. I'm sorry for you mate. Let me know how you get on/fcuked about. After all, you've only spent nearly 30k on a car.
ps, whilst you have the engineer, ask him if he'd like a go in mine as well. I'll give you my phone no.if you want and I suggest that everyone else with an unresolved banging forwards it to you. You can give it to him after he says,' i've not come across this noise before.'
Worth it for the look on his face I would think!
