Ah the great burning smell of oil on the manifold comes back to haunt me. Its well minging to quote Ali-G. Love the wafts of smoke when you sit at lights, eyes up the ladies and your car looks like its going on fire. Lovely.

Otherwise, I'm still motoring along quite happily for the moment.

Excellent Chris - there only one other wagon on the 100 listing - one on the 200 listing, but the owner has disappeared like the waft of burning oil smoke haha!

Keep in touch,
Mark

Hi Tim,

look back a few pages on this thread and find 'The Original STI Register' link or go into my profile for it - there are pictures of all the plaques found of the limited edition first runs.

Hope that helps,
Marky-San

Cheers for that Mark!
Might have to get one ordered...

Got a ScoobySport downpipe and centre section arriving this week - might do the backbox at a later date - just getting rid of the cats at the moment.

I'll post again when they're fitted, hopefully there'll be a noticeable difference

Some updates added to register.

Carrot - good to see you stepping into the modding arena. Exhaust is always a good way to go. Back box is also recommended, if not just for the sound of it

The exhaust is a good place to improve the car as Mark says. I put a cat free downpipe and a free flow cat in the centre pipe so it will pass emission tests but will boost over the fuel cut as standard. I then fitted a Dawes to reduce the boost by 0.5 PSI but it gets the turbo spinning up earlier. Sharpens the general feel of the engine considerably. Next will be ported headers when I get the chance. No problems with detonation or afr indications.

Mark, do you know the two big letters printed on your ECU as a matter of interest?

Hello Folks,

Broken - YHM.

Located no 117 of 200 - just awaiting contact from the owner, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Bought myself a little Civic Coupe for work, so spending alot of time on the car - prep, fixing little bits and stuff. Quite enjoyable to get away from the Scoob for a while - makes it more fun to come back too;-)

Anyway - I've got a Honda to Zymol!

Catch you later,
Marky-S

SB - excellent news, and let me welcome you to STI 1 ownership! let us know when you get the car and some pictures as well - you'll not be disappointed by your purchase.

The fuel I personally use is Shell Optimax as much as possible - only once had to use super unleaded as I was in the highlands and Optimax wasnt available. I also use 250ml of millers octane booster every full fill up - car seems to run well on this combination.

Boxer - not been at work (holidays) so havent got email, however went on your site and seen what you've done. Very good, although not sure what I have to let you know either way about? Find out 2morrow I suppose?

Took car out last night on a 160 mile country road trek upto the aberfoyle, stronachlochar, trossachs, callandar, doune, stirling, falkirk, glasgow, kirkintilloch and a load more. Used 3/4 of a tank, and I just decided to let rip on the roads - its the best fun driving since I topped out my LC on the M74 sometime back - absolutely magic!!!! Only naffed point was on a particularly undulating bit of country road (wide enough only for me) I bottomed the exhaust out 3 times in rapid succession (remember my car is lowered as well) - now I have a little rasp from the exhaust where the stainless steel has been carved away. Might also say i was doing over 100 at this point. Magic!

The car just grips and grips. Mind you, a rather large dear almost ran onto the road from the trees - just caught it out the side of my eye and luckily for me it stopped just short of splatsville. I turned my seat brown I'll tell you.

Anyway enough of my ramblings.....onward and upward.

Hi Leslie,

Yes, got them ok. Just need rainy days to let me put them on the site LOL!! Weathers too nice to be sitting in. Be on soon though. Great looking cars - quite different have the black vents on the bonnet of Guy's car.

Exess - pictures look great as well. Thats one shiney engine bay you got yourself.

Meant to add - I've bought a 2nd hand metal coolant tank for the car. Mine originally went just when I got the car, much to the amusement of many of those looking at the car. I bought a spanky new one from Midlands for £70, but I've never been overly happy with replacing a known dodgy part.

This one is off the later version car - just need to work out whether a small bracket needs fabricated for it, or not. If it does then chances are the the various hoses my be too short/long. Whatever the case, atleast I won't have to bother with it again

I'm also on the lookout for some rear discs, as mine are showing their age - very pitted and scored.....not nice too look at. So if anyone has recommendations, let me know

Other than that, car is running like a sweetie! Last tank of petrol gave me an incredible 30 mpg - I even recalculated it twice to make sure.

Leslie - just remembered, I'll try and get those numbers you asked for

Take care folks,
Marky-S

Hi Exess - I have vented rears. Will sort them out after my holiday I reckon - to many things to do/pay for till then.

Got my coolant tank, and yes I need to make up a bracket - been trying in General technical with no success to find the template of the bracket - saw it last year and cant remember which type of post it was from. Probably need to lengthen some of the hoses as well.

Updated the site content (had a few rainy day..) pics of 26/200 and 58/100 - still to add Exess, Guy and Leslies lastest pics.

Keep on the grey and out of the green!

Just seen the register, very impressed. Nicely done.

Hoping to fit some 4 pots soon when they arrive, otherwise very pleased with the car now.
