p.s. pics to follow, its on 17"multispokes and ive replaced the std 3"bore exhauste as it was rotten with a mongoose ,3" and it sounds exactly the same but more torque, prob due to it having no cats and it came with a twin tube down pipe, its also got a k+n filter on it, had a look at the ece, some one has been in it before as some wires are taped up code no isA18-000 RZO thats on the ecu, its got the strut brace too and the silly pink mounts, lol, just fitted a new cluch, got it from a factors borg n beck complete kit for £81 +vat, also needed flywheel fitted a later sti fly wheel ,it was miles heavier than the one i took off, lookin at getting an upgrade for the ecu, piggy back type as i want to keep the std one in use too. oh and its come with a blow off valve too, not too noisey, it will pull 8,000rpm in top in the correct conditions and will allways go to 7,500 in top but its not got the punch after 4000 rpm prob due to the 10 psi of boost, any ideas as to what it should be set to, and how much to sort it, regeads exesspeed

exesspeed -

Sounds like (for what ever reason) your boost is a little low - my own car, with a full Mongoose decat, manages 1.3 bar (around 18PSI), although mine seems a bit high given the lack of mods ! Check what fuel your running with, these early STI's seem sensitive to low grade fuel, I use SUL + booster in mine, and it seems happy with that. You state that someone seems to have played with the ECU, you may want to look into that as well.

My car is running 1.2 I think, although it was 1.6!! Mind you I've got an overboost problem which has only surfaced once since cleaning the boost solenoid. Fingers crossed.

Exess - any pictures of the car yet? We'd all be very interested to see it.

Black is PITA for sure - one light coating of dust and its back to square 1 LOL!!.

I used brake cleaner to clean the solenoid - but you have to be real fast doing it with the self clean connection. Seems to work...for a while.

Interesting my car revs to 7,500, not any higher at all. I was expecting the 8K or 8.5K as I've seen on later models.

LOL MAY BE MY REV COUNTER IS READING FAST, ONE THINK THOUGH I PUT A STI FULLEXHAUST ON IT WITH A DE CATTED DOWN PIPE AND IT LOST A 1000 RPM OFF THE TOP END IT GAVE THE CAR ASMA, THATS WHY I WENT FOR A MONGOOSE AS IT WAS BASICALLY THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT DROPPED TO BITS OFF IT, 3" BORE BUT WITH NO CATS ABSOLUTLY THE DOGS BOLLX BOTTOM END TO MID RANGE IS IMMENSE, JUST NEE MORE BOOST, AND WITH THE MONGOOSE AND THE K+N IT REVS FREELY TO 8,000 NP, WITH A ST SUBARU ONE OF A VERSION 5 IT WAS ONLY GOOD TO 7,000

Yes ok Exess. Well I have not taken mine to the rev limiter anyway so dont know where it cuts in. Max poke is about 6300 or so anyway. The rev counter redline starts at 7000 RPM on mine-are others different perhap's? My exhaust from the turbo back was getting ratty and the back box had a split along the weld on the top. I think it is repairable but I put the PowerEngineering system on anyway. The STI 1 system has different length pipes so you have to replace the lot anyway.

Hope you like the car as much as I do, yes I had a black car once Marky, only once though

Les

Mine is no 41/100 silver std trim inside STI seats etc output 300.6 bhp. Had it about 4 months. A real dream to drive. I was a bit concerned at first to think the badging in the engine bay were cosmetic add ons by the previous owner but it now seems otherwise. I saw one on the Autotrader website up for nearlly £12k! lets hope their woth holding on to. Any in Norfolk?

Cool! No 41 joins. The one in Autotrader is no 51 which is for sale from the same garage that no 66 went MIA.

Have you any pictures of your can you can post?

Scoobymanuk - is the new owner of no.43 (Eso's previous car) - so hopefully he reads the message I left on his thread in 'members gallery' showing his restored WRX STI. If your reading this, say hello

Well today saw me mostly fitting the Bailey Motorsport EVO VTA - took all of 20 mins and makes a nice whoosy. Does well to be heard above the HKS and decatted exhaust. No idling problems surfaced as yet. So pretty happy.

see ya,
MS

Nice one !

Spent this afternoon fixing a couple of problems - got my intercooler spray working again, somebody had trapped the water feed from the pump under the airbox. Nice and easy one. Also, managed to remove the "mold" that was growing across the dashboard, white spirit did the job. Also readjusted the passenger door seals which were blowing abit at speed.

Just leaves the wheel bearing and leaking rocker gaskets....

Got my V4 grill fitted tonight - was a bit tricky, but looks pretty good - need to be convinced in daylight though. Keeping the original grill and badge for the moment.

Also noticed my IC spray bottle clip had snapped off the body - so I have tie wrapped it till I think of a better Blue Peter approach.

Not much else happening - cant think what to do next, except maybe sell it for a Civic Type R in red. Saw one today and it looks the dogs danglies

Finally something to show - took too long due to work commitments, but enough of my verbals. Very simple, as I said I am not website orientated, but look upon it as a start. Definately needs more pictures, car specs ideas to get it into something special.

The Original STI Register

Interestingly enough I think I've located another ltd ed in my neck of the woods - again in Autotrader (is everyone selling or summit? LOL!). Its a red saloon with the 'hoop' spoiler, so I'm going to call tomorrow and see what exactly it is and more importantly the number and run.

Later folks,
Marky-San

Send the pics directly to me, and I can doctor them as necessary to add to the site.

Try my other address at mark.w.smith@lineone.net

Unsure why tiscali is full, as there was nothing in it last night? Weird.

If that doesnt work, mail me at msmith@banta.co.uk

Look forward to seeing them Mark,

Marky-San

Exess - cant put anything on site at moment. Lycos are having problems which have been surfacing quite a few times in the last months. Bear with them till they sort it out once and for all (I hope).

Quick Reply: STi original jap ltd. build of 100 - know anyone who's got one?
