When per Eklund was using an Impreza for rally cross, Prodrive were building him 600bhp engines... which would last 15-20 minutes

3 months ago was 270BHP at 5750rpm
Now with a few tweaks probably 5 - 10 bhp more

WRX01 with PPP (p1ss poor power?) = guessing at about 250bhp on Optimax.

Watched Per Eklund's Impreza a couple years ago. Yes, it was FKing Rapid but not as quick as the other cars..... Citroen Xara's etc.

I thought Per Eklunds car had 620bhp, and he had his own engine builder - but they dd last 20mins.
He changed to SAABs cos the engines lasted much longer.

Can I ask how you all get a flywheel figure???
I only know of @ wheels figures as I have been told guessing at drivetrain losses is a true art on most dyno's.
But anyway, 284bhp @wheels.
Anyones guess as to how much at the flywheel.....

But how did you measure the ATW figure - if I get my car measured say in 4th and 5th gear - the overall 'estimated' ATF figure is pretty much the same - but the ATW figure will be different for each gear.
It is a black art - good for comparisons - not so good for absolute statements.
Mellow,
368bhp seems pretty low for 1.7bar - is it a really small turbo? Torque is pretty good.
For comparison another STi got 363bhp with at 1.3bar..

My 284@ wheels was achieved in third gear on a dyno.
I thought all power runs were done in third gear to keep terminal speeds down on the rolling roads??
And also have been told that your AW figure should be divided by .7
This gives 284/.7 = 405hp??
Thats a 30% loss through the drivetrain......
All achieved with 1.4 bar boost.

Using 3rd, will give a higher ATW's figure, than using 4th, but the calculated crank figure should be the same.

Why does third give a higher reading?? Is that because there is more torque in a lower gear???

Hey Mellow, nice figures!
You didn't get the EVO then?
