Yep the Rocky Mountain Resort is a little way out but I think they run a minibus in and out of Banff regularly. I'd personally go for somewhere in Banff itself but it had to be a group decision with my friends and RMR looked like a nice place to stay.

I am there no question.

serious question though, is the place big enough that I wont ski it in a day?

Plus is there a half pipe or anything?

doesnt matter if not, but its nice to get some jumps in.

either way, so long as it isnt march, count me in!

Adam - If you haven't seen, Banff serves three resorts: Mount Norquay (pretty poor), Sunshine and Lake Louise. I forget the statistics, but have a look at the links I posted back up the thread to see if it's big enough. I believe all three have terrain parks, so you have half-pipes, tabletops, etc. One caveat is I do not know when these appear in the season; I think later rather than earlier as they need enough snow to build the ramps without starving the rest of the slopes.

er - half pipes - do you know how good we are?!?!?!?
I think most of us might give that bit a miss - if we're still upright it will be a minor miracle

the beauty of going in a big group is that those whohave been before can help out those who havent.
Its very satisfyuing even for those who can go off exploring, to know they have helped out others, where in some case4s an instructor may not have the time to devote to one person.

Checking piccie size...

Is this halfpipe big enough? That's a skier (not a boarder) in red, halfway down on the right. Sorry about the quality, no digicam yet!

Ooh goody, it works!

One more jump, for those who like it: A tabletop and a boarder going over(he's not on the piste parallel):

This is the Larch area at Louise, you can hike up above the tree line and do a double black down (as I did!):

For those beginners who need space, these are the crowds during Easter Week, and the nasty dangerous narrow runs:

Banff Ave, the main drag:

And some deer crossing:

Finally, dog-sledding: a bit pricey, but a REAL laugh! We did the four-hour trip, well worth it if you want a rest from skiing:

Enjoy!

Brendan

If you are off to get some skiing or boarding lessons at Wycombe summit ask for Elaine she's my mad sis and the main instructor. Andorra is worth thinking about loads cheaper(DRIVEABLE AND DUTY FREE or cheap flights EasyJet to Barcelona or Ryan air to Carcassone) snow is ususally much better in the Pyrenees than the alps. Check out http://www.snowboardadventures.co.uk/

Have fun

think that half pipe will do.

dont want to be hiking anywhere. I have a large figure to maintain.

i dont go on snowbaording holidays to do silly things like exercise, I go there to go to slide down a steep snow covered mountain at insanely fast speeds repeatedly from 9 am to 6 pm!

I'll try to pop up to the resort for a scooby/snowboard meet, can't commit to a full on holiday but chances are I'll be able to head up for a day or two.

I'm not too interested in terrain parks as such, but do like terrain. I'll leave the 'Extreme' stuff to Adam as he's much younger

Nah, I wouldn't go to Wycombe for a week either! Milton Keynes is just as far from here and it's much nicer... honest.

The time has come to act, and act fast

Lads and lasses the dates and time for this holiday is as follows:

Leaving Heathrow on the 29th of January for a spanking 14 night Snowbaording/skiing trip of a liftime to canada. The cost for this I hear you cry, well park your bottoms, here it is:

It's going to cost £721pp plus £52 insurance, we will be staying in the swiss villiage to save on cost it is self cattering. The deposit on this trip is £110 and the rest need to be in by the end of october (I believe they're checking this for me) Bargain me thinks

Please Say YES or NO ASAP please so myself and POC can get this sorted.

Cheers
