Glad to see you are back Norm, hope the wife isn't finding it too difficult having you back under her feet
Sorry I didn't come and visit you more often, you know how it is - painful prison memories that I didn't want to re-visit
Did they keep your job open for you as they promised?

Blimey
Three years is a bit harsh (okay out after 1 for good behaviour etc.), he was trespassing on your property. The police normally use truncheons to break peoples collar bone or arm, hitting someone on the head is a bit excessive, but I'm sure for most people in that situation the adrenalin kicks in and your not really thinking straight until after the event.
Anyway glad your out and okay.
Very funny thread btw

Jeeeeeeeeeeesus
So you heard some bloke ranting downstairs (who shouldn't have been there), where you knew your wife was, came storming down and did what you could to make sure no-one was threatened....and then got banged up for it ?
The thread was funny up to that point.
Gutted for you That's justice gone a bit mental if you ask me. Why people can take extenuating circumstances into account is beyond me, i.e. bloke forces way into house shouting head off. Could have been beating the crap out of your wife for all you knew, you come down, do the protecting family bit using reasonable () force to make sure perpetrator is apprehended, and then you suffer for it shocking

You dont beleive it ? How do you think I feel ?
There is some semblance of order in my life these days, I have a job, it's not my old one but an old work colleague who started up has given me a role
Life was tough in there at times but at least I never dropped the soap ! (unlike a good friend I made in there called Russ who regularlly found no option but to be 'the boys toy' ! Yes it's true, it does go on, but then what do you expect ?
Russ is still there, I can only hope that he copes with the shower brigade, I've been to visit once and he's told me that he hasnt had any grief, but you can see it in his face. It's not pleasant
Thanks for the good wishes, and say a prayer for my mate Russ !

If everything you've said in this thread actually happened, I'll be more amazed than an amazed thing, on an amazing day, wearing amazing trousers, walking down Amazing Avenue in Amazing City.

Firstly, the dates do not tally. Unless the BBC took 2 years to report the story.
Secondly, NDL appears to be a man, whereas the BBC report is about a woman.
Still a wind up IMO. A darn good one as well.

So it happened to this woman on Thursday, 29 July, 2004 and me on 11 July 2002, so it seems like I was right after all, they can and do trample the entire car !

Norm, sorry to hear how it all turned out.
Time to put it all behind you and get your life back to condition zero.
I hope your penal pal Russ isn't too affected by his experiences so that he remains a faghat on his release.
Good luck in the future wp.

thought i'd bring this classic back as we look to be reviving a few of the old ones.
Still my personal fave. beautifully constructed and the post a year or so on from the original just clinches it for me

Another point to be wary of...
1) If the farmer has the freedom of the city (by the council who run that area) - you have no chance as that entitles him to herd his livestock wherever he wants....
2) If the cow involved has BSE (mad cow disease) he / she will probably get off with diminished responsibility!!
