The pro's well exceed the con's in my opinion, couldn't be happier with my new car.
OK there is a lot more out there these days but i was on the way to work the other morning (5am) and this fella in a pretty new Astra VXR pulled beside me and said " i see you going to work most days and i have to say that's a bloody nice car "

My honest advice to anyone buying a 2.0 or 2.5 subaru would be to make sure you have the funds for a decent rebuild.
If you cant, you're probably looking at the wrong car.

That's what I still find mental though is your spending 20K+ on a car but your pretty much gonna have to build the engine yourself and pay for it, and it's been that way for nearly 15 years and there still putting that engine about with the same issues, at least Ford had the decency to acknowledge there was a problem with the RS, I really like the new shape STI but just wouldn't be happy knowing that engine is in it.

Roughly 18.5 i paid for my car, add 4.5 for a closed deck short block http://tdracing.co.uk/project/tdr-forged-short-engines/

So for around 25k you have a car "capable" of 420 bhp with great handling and a really well balanced chassis.

Mental? maybe, bargain? To me, most definitely.

I am a newbie to Subaru, and I did want an STi but funds couldn't stretch me that far,
was fortunate to find a WRX fully forged for a good price, I am loving the car, the
2.5 pulls really well, and a lovely amount of torque.
Don't be put off with regard to engine failure, maybe find one that has already been
rebuilt, the Hawkeye is a really nice car, and gets lots of attention.

OK.................

Sounds to me like you need to manage your expectations a WRX is not going to touch an RS4, not to mention why are you racing other cars when yours clearly is not running correctly?

Just take the bulb out of the CEL if it's constantly coming on and annoying you.

I took the batteries out of our Carbon Monoxide alarm at home yesterday because the constant loud bleeping noise was giving us and the kids constant headaches and making us all feel sick and dizzy!
