I'm so confused lol, I can see the quote but can't actually see the post. Assuming it got deleted?
Where are all the cheap sub 7k STi's if that's even a possibility

The guy I replied to is a well known Troll. Just last night he created a username (even though he's currently banned) and went online to post mostly aggressive comments on all the threads I'd posted on. He then got banned again last night, created yet another username a few minutes later and put loads more trolling comments onto everyone's posts. Moderators have now removed his posts again thankfully.
My comment was just a reply to him, he's a vacuous low life who can hardly put a sentence together normally, hence the comment about school I made. Not at all related to your post or thread.

Absolutely gutted man.. due to a change in circumstances, unfortunately my budget has sank further now and £6k will be my limit.
apart from a classic, what is the fastest newage I can get for £6k?? I like the classics but not sure I could live with one as a daily that's why I prefer newage. I prefer hawkeye but read too much about issues with the 2.5l engine.
also, on a standard wrx, how much would it cost to get some bolt on mods like exhaust, air filter and remap?
I'd like to be around 280-300bhp but without spending like crazy. I can probably source the parts 2nd hand, but the price of a remap seems expensive??
I think I'm looking for the most cost efficient way to get most power but with a small budget of 6k if possible please?
thanks

You just have to be realistic I'm afraid. The STI is a performance car, proper performance not hot hatch level. You can't run one on a shoestring and the value of a good car reflects in he price far more than age. They get broken for spares at 7k so really that's the floor for any STi. WRX values appear to have stabilised at really 4k upwards for NewAge cars. They are worth a lot less to break so the values reflect that.
With your 6K budget, you have to really look for the nicest WRX you can find. For a daily, the 5 speed is a lot kinder to your hands, a lot more relaxed to drive and still faster than most cars out there. A nice 240-260bhp will be more than enough to keep it reliable, don't go higher. The thrill of the extra thrust is hardly noticable and and every thing else is just costs...
A reasonable Hawkeye 2.5 would be within the budget. A standard one with high wing added may be easy to find. There's one near me with high level genuine wing, white 18" wheels on and very clean. She was trying to sell it for £5,995 but gave up and is still running it.

I luv a hatch! They are pretty rare and you do get the comfort that you don’t get with previous models. If I was to ever get rid of her I’d buy a cs400 or a jdm like yourself!.

Hi Scoobsters, just after a bit of advice.
Firstly, my budget is quiet small, it will be anywhere between £6.5-7.5k maybe a touch higher.
I will be looking to buy a car within the next couple of weeks. What I need advice on is, if im gonna be using the car as my main daily (home to work and back = 100 miles a week), would you buy a clean very low mileage for example 35-50k mileage WRX or a high mileage (100k~) STI??Which would be better for a daily, whats more reliable and interms of running costs do they differ much?
ps I wont be doing any trackdays or racing etc
thanks

Re the wrx, now I'm not knocking them but the 2.5 is renouned for failing and its a couple of K to rebuild it. I don't know your financial situation and its none of my business so please do not take offence however If you're low on budget and can't get the sti I'd heavily suggest you stay clear of the 2.5 unless it's been forged. I've had 3 cars with 2.5 and although they hadn't failed in my ownership they had on the previous owner and they had them forged.
Also everytime you see an STi you'll wish you would have saved the etc and bought one so I'd consider holding out till you have the funds.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do

And there's no chance you could strike a deal in the middle? If not keep your eye on it for a few weeks and Re approach, you might get lucky.

I really appreciate all the support. I agree, it totally makes sense to buy the best you can.
problem I had is I was limited for time,me and mrs were sharing the 1 car and was really inconvenient.
I didn't have the time to save literally as it could've taken a few months for me to get the extra cash lol.
Well I've ended up buying a Hawkeye WRX. Pretty low mileage, Full service history and bog standard. No mods at all, not even an exhaust!!!! my qashqai is louder than this
i bought this with the intention to use as my daily to work and back for a year or so. eventually I may sell it and get something else lol who knows.
I do not intend to mod the engine on this as for me, the speed/performance is adequate.
All I want is to make it look nice so lower it on springs, wheels and gotta find a cheap backbox from somewehre to unleash that signature burble if anyone knows that has a backbox for sale let me know please.
Cheers

Congratulations on the new purchase then mate. Hope you enjoy it. Please don't think the worst about the 2.5,there are plenty out there that haven't had issues however it is a problem to be aware of and walk into ownership knowing. If it's been cared for then hopefully you'll be OK and get to enjoy it. To be honest I prefer the 2.5's power band it's imo better suited for a daily driver and one of the reasons I've opted for a forester this time round.
