I tried masking the red and spraying the bronze over but just couldn't get it masked effectively so I ended up spraying the whole things bronze and then painstakingly re-painting the red logo by hand a few times until I had them just right.

Ah good job. I know what it's like, I barely have the time for one project let alone 2. My classic 63 beetle desperately needs some time and the engine out for a quick rebuild before this season plus I have loads of new parts for it that I've had knocking around for some time now. I'm just having to ignore the beetle until the Subaru is done.
So not a lot has happened on the car in recent months unfortunately. I had planned to get all the parts fitted in May and get it mapped etc, but family and other issues means it didn't work out that way. No bother as I'm still driving it daily and loving every minute of it.
The only thing I've done recently is clean up all the intercooler pipework after their powder coating exercise and re-finish all the end etc. I also removed the rear lights again and changed the overlays to a slightly darker shade.
I also purchased some new front and rear badges to replace the standard ones which finally arrived yesterday after waiting a month. So have these to fit tonight.
I went to see Rich @ FB Tuning at the beginning of May to see if he could fit me in at any point to get my parts fitted, but he's taken on a few large builds now and doesn't have a full week available until much later on in the year. So it's definitely going to be a toss up now between TDR and SC.
I didn't mind the original ones, but they were the only 2 bits of chrome on the car and stood out like a saw thumb. Still have them if I change my mind later.
No progress on the car as I've still been using it daily. However....... I've just bought a new car for the wife (New Golf R Estate) which is freeing up her old daily driver for me to use so I can finally take the Subaru off the road for a while. I'm hoping to get stuck into things this weekend and get it started. I now plan to do most of not all the mechanical jobs myself hopefully only leaving a few parts I can't change before the remap to the specialist. Would rather build this myself so I'm happy with the end results.
On a plus side, it's just sailed through the MOT today without issue and without any advisories at all.

hahaha. After driving the golf I considered getting one for myself too, but then common sense prevailed thankfully. Back in my Subaru today and love it!
Finally got round to fitting my mirror auto folding module that I purchased from Japan Parts last month. Not that cheap once you factor in import charges etc (£135 just to auto-fold the mirrors) and instructions were not simple to follow but it's all fitted now. Took just over an hour in total. Mirrors now function how they should have done from the factory.

Long time no update. Have been enjoying the car and haven't got round the the major update just yet.
Since COVID-19 lockdown I have ticked off a few jobs at the weekends while I've still been working full time from home. A few weeks back I took the Rota wheels off and stripped all the brakes off the car at each corner. I knew that I had 1 snapped bleed nipple in one of the front calipers and hadn't had a chance to get it repaired yet until I took the car off the road during lockdown, So no better opportunity than now to do a few essential jobs. I also managed to refurbish the front splitter, side extensions and rear spats so they all look like new again before I did the brakes.
Couple of pictures of the car once I'd done the skirts etc.
II tried to remove the snapped nipple by drilling it out and using a stud extractor, but it just wouldn't shift. So I used a blow torch on the caliper to heat it up and still nothing. So then I got my huge mig setup out and tried numerous times to weld a nut to the remainder of the nipple just it just kept snapping. So I gave up and sent the caliper to Alyn @ AS Performance to sort out instead. Thanks if your watching mate.
I have been painting the calipers myself in special VHT primer, VHT caliper paint and VHT caliper lacquer then applying high temp decals. It's taken bloody ages to do correctly so I can see why people send them off to get done instead. I have been curing the calipers and baking them in the kitchen oven as per VHT instructions to ensure they will stay as they are when used. The wife has not been too pleased with me! They have all received new hardware too and I've ran all the threads through on calipers and bolts to make sure all will go back together perfectly after.
It turns out the only master cylinder brake stopper brace I could find was the Cusco one which was only available in Japan, so I imported that and fitted it this weekend just gone along with Fuji braided brake lines all ready for the return of the last caliper today from Alyn.
I ordered and will be fitting new Godspeed G grooved discs all round, new Performance Friction pads and Motul fluid from Alyn. I also finally ordered the uprated Exedy clutch and ASP ultralight billet flywheel from Alyn at the same time which I'm hoping will be the last pieces of the expensive puzzle required.

Cheers bud. Took my time to do them how I wanted them. Just want it all back together now. Alyn's next (aid parcel) parts delivery should be any time now. Then I'll rip into the 4th caliper and should have it all fitted back up again at the weekend.
Then I'll be taking the front bumper off and working out all the induction and FMIC side of the new setup finally. About bloody time too!

Would have been nice if they opened on unlock.

Exceptional job on the calipers, I'd love to try it, but Mrs Hedge would go mental if the oven was used. I was just quoted £260 just for the writing to be painted on all 4 by a certain refurber. I didn't think I would like your wheel colour, but it is also excellent.

Know exactly what you mean mate. The Golf R we have does that as standard which is how you would expect the Subaru system to work. But as always things are a little different with Subaru. It#s a costly upgrade for something so trivial, but well worth it.

Cheers for the comments. The wife didn't like the fact the oven stinked of paint for at least 48 hours after I used it.
I contacted Ian about refurbing mine and another well known trader and they were both quoting £500 for a colour change, so did it myself instead.

Depends which ECU I end up using. If I use the Syvecs S6+ I have then yes the clinic will install the ECU and map it. I'll also go for the multi position cal switch and probably a Toucan display too. BUT I don't really want to give the car parts and all to the clinic to fit everything as they will more than likely pull my pants down and take me for everything I have like they did with Raggy. I would rather Mark @ TDR fitted everything and mapped it to start with on EcuTek Racerom and then once that's done I will decide if I use the Syvecs or not.

cant fault mark at all mate,thwaites are great. clinic will do a grand job aswell so whoever you go with your car will be well looked after
anything else planned for her mate? any more suspension mods?
