Surly we would be 'bent' if we broke the rules and just strolled onto the traveller site without a power to do so?

I can't see what your point is here?

Incident occurred on the street

I told the copper I was third party only and I had means of removing the vehicle within 10mins !!!!

So why did the copper get my car lifted?? When I could have done it for nothing!!!

I'll tell the Answer :
That Dirty lying scumbag did it to help his ****** mate take my pants down
as the recovery company owner was an ex copper so gets all the local jobs
most of the coppers I've dealt with wouldnt know we're to look without there uniforms on only like picking on the average person who wants to mind his own business leave the rich and big boys to it and prey on the weak that is from my own experiences ..

COMPLAIN
you for real son I've got 2 disabled kids to look after full time and you want me to run after the dirty ******* who change and manipulate the system to suit?
Well guess what.... I did wrote a fackin letter but still got thrown to one side never heard a boo
So I moved on learnt my lesson
when a copper stops me know I put my phone video on
Wipes the smiles off there faces and I don't take intimidation off them neither now happy days

Its all filth I tell you filth....

Same here, I'd believe any copper if he told me today's date...after I'd checked...and that's about it.

But yet you and Saggy-do would be the first ones ringing 999 if your cars were stolen. Oh wait, let me guess, you’d go out as a one man Army and deal out your own justice, right?

If your house gets burgled, SOCO will attend and take various samples etc. We don't then expect the home owner to pay for the fingerprint powder, DNA wipes or the cost of processing them.

Same with the car - if its forensically seized, then the police cover the cost as the decision was taken away from you.

I used to have respect for the police force, i even have a few close friends who are currently serving police officers, however the police force as a whole has changed for the worse now. They seem hell bent on screwing the motorist as its easy work and easy revenue. They could be concentrating on investigating or catching all the nonces from the 60s onwards that are popping out the woodwork now or the immigrant rapists and human trafficers that we now have a lot of, or even the underage chinese prostitution that seems to be on the up or even the knife crime and drug crimes that are currently excessive but they'd rather sit in an unmarked audi at the side of the road and wait for someone to come past them doing 34 in a 30 zone or for a car to flag up on the anpr that it has no mot. I also would rather have a motorist on the road with no insurance etc over any of the above

Indeed - check everything first gazzawrx

I think you'll find if you did check everything the average is 1% of the population's contact with police is for speeding. The other 99% is for 'other' issues

The problem I've found is that the Police are under-resourced in areas that I would consider important, like following up on crime incidents and investigation work and over-resourced in other areas such as traffic.

A few years ago my wifes car was broken into over night outside by best friends house in a nice part of Leeds. They broke the passenger window and ripped the factory stereo/satnav unit out of the dash, causing a little damage in the process. It was quite a unique unit and didn't come up for sale very often so I kept an eye out in the usual places. Low and behold it popped up for sale for Ł300 in Leeds 1 week later and even had the distinguishing marks and our flippin 2012 satnav DVD still inside.

I did a little searching and managed to link 4 ebay selling accounts through the same phone number and their distinctive advert type, also 2 separate Gumtree accounts and even found their workshop, postcode etc. All these had previous people reporting that the car they purchased had turned out to be stolen etc etc. I had such a pile of evidence that I handed to the Police it was crazy.

So what did they do? Well they handed the case to a female junior investigating officer who knew nothing about cars, how to use computers and who'd never used eBay before in her life. She completely agreed with what I'd found and even suggested that maybe the easiest thing (rather than letting my insurance deal with the Ł5k, yes Ł5k claim) was for me to buy my stereo back from this seller. She actually told me to buy it back until I asked her if I'd be done for dealing in stolen goods and she replied, oh yeh, maybe that's not a good idea then.! Give me strength!

So, after all my work the seller still continues to sell stolen goods on eBay using these accounts 3 years later. Top job!

Nope.
Don't bother ringing them now, they aren't interested.
the only reason I would would be to get a crime number for insurance.

the rest...sort it ourselves.
