Another quicky.
The display on my trip computer had been blank for a while.
reading around this on the Internet it appears some of the PCB soldering is a bit weak. For anyone with basic pcb surface mount skills they are easy to repair. I don't have any electronic skills at all so I purchased a refurbished replacement and went to fit it.
I gently pried out the surrounding vents, trying not to damage the remarkably fragile dashboard.
When it was out I found this white connector:

Not plugged into anything. Once I plugged it back in the display lit up!
Now, does anyone need a refurbished gen 4 dashboard clock?

Always the way. Now you can guarantee if you hadn't bought that replacement part first it would of magically been broken instead and you would of needed it.

Even after a year the load carrying capacity of this cars still suprises.
Two water butts, side by side.
Didn't even need to put the seats down.

It's not been a good week with the leggy.
First the battery died, leaving the car stranded in the work car park.
Luckily, a friendly local independent could get one delivered for the next day.
The also checked the alternator, but fortunately it was delivering 14.4 v so looks to be ok. Plus nothing else was draining the battery, so hopefully that's fixed.

Then, driving home tonight in the usual Friday night traffic, smoke started pouring from under the bonnet.
The power steering pump hose has a hole and it was pouring ps fluid over the front of the engine.

Although nothing serious, you do seem to have had some bad luck with niggly problems. Do you feel that it's specific to this car or that there is greater potential for issues compared with an Impreza due to design/complexity/quality?

I guess the biggest issue is sourcing genuine parts quickly?

I think it's more a case of buying a car too cheap of unknown providence with too many miles.
From Scotland. When you live in Cambridge.
It's currently on a final warning.

Before I call down the Problem Fairy, I have been very lucky with my Leggy so far. The first one I had was equally reliable so perhaps I have been doubly blessed.

I have a few things going on with mine I'll post up soon.

The engine in the 2.0l JDM Leggy TS engine looks remarkably like that in a Hatch or Saloon post 2008.

Like many other manufacturers they evolve their engines from other models before transferring them over. Sadly the Euro Market was required to use the 2.5 and what came after was a bit of a mess.

Thanks. Just heard back from pirtek and the replacement hose is done. I've also asked the garage for a through inspection while it's up on the ramp so there are no more surprises.

Good shout. Mine is currently being treated with kid gloves until the HKS Sport cat is mapped in. All booked for August

So, pirtek made up a new hose, using the old fixings, same day for less than £70.
The garage had a good check over and only found a small split in the o/s inner cv boot.
Still smells of hot oil but I think that's residual from the original leak.
So, back on the road.

Could the problem be that the hose is not supposed to go where it was and is again now and makes contact with the underside of the bonnet??
It should run horizontally around the side of the engine underneath the turbo air inlet and coolant header tank at approx the same height as the steering pump.

I thought the hose had been moved out of the way after leaking in the picture.

Although a MY08 on WRX STi they use the same hoses and are routed the same way.........

Now it's leaking oil. Not power steering fluid, definitely oil. Bottom of engine is covered. Rocker cover gaskets have been done, as have exhaust cam sensors. Any other suggestions? Camshaft seals? Judging by the smoke I'd say the leak is on the drivers side if the engine.

The leak seems to be from under the heads on the drivers side of the block, and it's dripping onto the exhaust, hence the large volumes of smoke. Speaking to Tim Farmer pretty much the only seal that's not been replaced in that area is the camshaft oil seals.
So Tim is coming again. Sadly, to get to the seals he's going to need to remove the rocker covers and belts/rollers. Basically all the parts he replaced a few months ago...
But we'll do the avcs banjo bolts and front arb bushes at the same time.

Possibly solved, although given my recent history with this car I'm not going to be going any long trips.
There were two issues. First, the new PS hose wasn't correctly fitted, so fluid was coming out if the high pressure side of the pump. Second, the inner driveshaft cv on the drivers side had split, chucking grease all over the up pipe, turbo head shield and various other hot parts.
Thanks to Tim F for coming all the way to my house to fix issues caused by other garages.

HI mate - are you running 225/45/18 or have you stuck to 215? I need a new set of tyres and I'm not sure if the Blitzen 18" rims are wide enough for 225?

I am not sure about Stu but I am running 225/40/18 Bridgestones on my Spec B GT, they have been fine. I am about to put 225/45/18 on my spare set of wheels for the winter.

Not sure yet. I'm doing a lot more miles for work and the refund for cars of less than 2.0 displacement has been cut. So I may get something sensible for doing lots of motorway miles and something less sensible for the rest of the time.
