I have tried a few different tyres over the last 6 or so years, this just personal opinion.

Goodyear GSD3 - alright tyre but was pretty poor in the wet despite good tread depth.
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 - Replaced the GSD3, much better wet weather performance and cost roughly £95 a corner at the time.
Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 2 - Great tyre, built in rim protector, just as good as the michelin ps3 wtih excellent wet weather performance and cost £70 a corner so a saving of £100.
Continental Conti sport contact 5 - Great tyre, extremely good grip wet and dry however terrible wear rate.

I just remember when the GDS3 came out, people seemed to prefer its predecessor. It was 'a thing'.

Blimey, 15 years!
