Have you got any links to these problems, I ask as this is now s very very common gearbox and as far as I know it's more robust than its 6hp predecessor. And certainly has much less issues than the 9speed fiat/Chrysler unit and Merc's 7 speed auto.

Apart from s slight jerk between 1st/2nd (which the 6hp did as well), and a noise in reverse, that's the only bad I've heard about.

Lots getting gearboxes replaced under warranty for whining noises.

Ah the reverse whine.

But barely any have actually failed though...(i.e loss of drive, errors on dash etc).

Reminds me of the open deck piston slap Scoobys had. Loads of owners had engines replaced (mine included), just because it made a noise.

So spoken to Haliwell Jones, it's for a 5 door hatch wit sports auto, heated leather and sun protection glass and the pdc, choice of white black or grey. It does seem a good deal as does the 240i offer, works out at 28k for a brand new one with 7k off list although need to find out more on that one

Never rely on car journalists (especially EVO)..they have a tendency to write for the global market not the uk market (in short; talk bollox )

Like I said: Left hand drive only. Evo said the same wihen the m135i came out and the UK version didn't have it.

Also it's now auto only (left hand drive m135i had both manual and auto options)

So spoke to Halliwell again as the 240i offer was of interest, turns out the offer was bog standard car and they only have auto ones so it's nearer 400 a month and about 430 for the 240i, that's with service pack

Q4 deals come out shortly so they are going to see what's on offer next month and let me know so I can order with the 7k off if it's carried over

No map 5 for the B58 engine as yet, Should be around 400-400+ at the crank on map 1.
Other maps and features are being developed.

Think he might have a point though UC.Every BMW in the range looks not far off the same to me,save for the 4 series which I think is stunning.

Don't get me wrong though.I think all the latest mercedes

I intend to! I personally think M140 looks quite smart especially in 3door guise.

Ive had loads of people tell me my Hawk Sti is ugly or a chavs car,!But to be honest I couldn't care less, I think it looks good and that all that matters.

Anyway I'm sure I'll add a few little exterior mods over time to make it look more aggressive.

Mondeo does look great.

Trouble is their drivetrains are all so boring.

I know what you mean. Quite a lot of BMW saloons could be mistaken for one another, even with coupes from a distance. All the aeros and blades on the front end of M Sport cars make them look similar, too. But I do maintain the 1-series is easily distinguishable from the rest. The pre-LCI has very distinctive looks.

My point is, whenever somebody comes on here and mentions getting a new car, you can almost guarantee Xsara-boy (dpb) will do his best to p*** on their parade.

Got my 440i at weekend finally, had the MPPSK Exhaust fit for that extras 36BHP and pops and bangs.

Thus far and maybe because I've been away from the 45 but it feels as fast if not faster, just seems to pull in all gears no real tail off or anything, weird really

I did contact the usual suspects at Burger and Rebellion but as I've got the 360bhp MPPSK they kinda dont know if they can map it yet, all the Maps are for the stock 1.. N58. Rebellion said they hook it up, but I've lost my love for em

Stereo in this 1 is HK and is worlds ahead of my 45s and minis.

OP do BMW do an Mperformace exhaust for the 140/240 or just the skirts diffusers etc ? i know it pushes more BHP stock than the 440, maybe its BMWs way of milking every ounce outa the punters...

Unfortunately I'm no longer getting the M140,
Basically I placed the order in first week of September for December delivery,
This originally worked out perfectly as I was in Kenya from September till November with work.

I would of only had a short period apon my return where I was going to rent a car until my BMW was delivered. Also during the time I was away my Impreza was sold via a trader who was listing it for me.

In November I had a email from BMW to say my car build had been delayed and it would be with my dealer week commencing the 23rd of January,

So bit of a pain, but I have a second car so not a massive problem. That was until I get told I'm going to Canada 2nd of Jan until Sometime in May with work.

Originally supplier said they would keep hold of the car until I returned, Then about a week ago I had a phone call saying that BMW have recently conducted a review of the terms offered which has subsequently led to price increases for various orders that are awaiting registration. Unfortunately mine was one of the affected orders.

So my monthly payments would have a £72 + vat increase per month.

Obviously I contested this and they offered me a full refund of my deposit that I'm still waiting on!

Guessing this all due to the time i originally made the order and the time that I can collect the car being over different financial quarters. This must of effected the costs or something to do with the new car tax changes in April.

So now I'm not sure what to do, It's difficult to place another order being in Canada, So I may just buy something outright when I get back.

Hi,
Our local dealer (Abu Dhabi motors) sells and fits the Akrapovic exhausts for BMWs.
They look and sound great!
Below are a few photos of one fitted to a rather tasty white M2 that was in their showroom, the other day!

i Like the Akroprovic stuff, always seem very good stuff. i didn't go into too much research to be honest as it was the ability to keep the warranty intact that made me get this 1, however I'm pretty sure Akros and the others offer 3 years on the engine etc if you take there..
under a 3rd party warranty

nice that m2

Weird, if you've bought the car under 2.9% or 4.1% thats your deal it doesn't move, irrelevant if BMW release a new campaign that changes the rates.

I placed mine in November at 2.9% they then went up in Jan to 4.1% i then added the exhaust mid Jan, my build happened Jan 16th, and it was delivered a week earlier. My dates also slipped but they always come a week early as to what genius BMW say.

worst case is you register it and just pay a month ?or is that not something you want to do.

maybe it some other thing there talking about, but my understanding is if you buy it at an agreed price point thats it, it stays there.

My A45 took 6 months to come, imagine how many campaigns i went through but my price was locked in...be nice to know what they actually mean InTurbo, seems weird...but i suppose if there wanting to give you back your full deposit then it must be true..

Good luck mate and enjoy canada, sons just done a 3 month stint there in the Army looked mega

I have no idea what kind of deal/discount you got but was it anywhere near 22%?

If not, give TRL a try over on www.babybmw.net, order one from him and it will probably be ready once you get back I have recently ordered a M140i through him, due during March hopefully (as have many others on the same forum). He is a sales manager at the Berry Heathrow BMW dealership and does some nice discounts (I ended up getting a bit over £8k off the list price, which works out to be about 22% ).

You can deal with him via email, or phone, but he is easy to deal with, straight up and gives you his best price first time, no sales bull sh!te or messing about. Should it be of interest, his email is found here - http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=87981
