The only mod i have done to mine are the rear wheel arches flared and wheels, As i wasn't going to do anything to this one...... honest
She doesn't know about the handling mods or the bit I've hidden in the garage
Remap should be next to improve fuel economy

Spent £20k on the first one £16.5 to buy and £3.5 modding got £13500 back when I sold it though.

£17k on the STI Type R but that includes £7200 purchase price, cashed in around £5k on it in parts and bought most of them back now paid less than I sold them for though Just need a bonnet and it's complete again, oh and to put the engine together oh and the rest of the car too.

Then spent around £5/700 on the wagon more replacing worn parts and servicing than modding though, sold it now so that's that with me and Subarus for a few years.

Got a nice Golf MK1 and a few quid in my pocket to keep me busy now, more show than go these days, paint is cheaper than engine parts.

You don't have the right poll for mine as iv spent well over 50k on one of my builds easy but it is a WRC build so parts are a bit more expensive than you average Scoob and I'd already spent a fortune on it before it got stripped for the Wrc build lol

Been lucky with my hatchback Sti as iv only had to spend around 5-10k to get it where I want

Im glad im not the only one who has to lie about how much things cost to the missus!! Any ones missus found out how much a part really cost?? Ive been caught out a few times and Ive had the silent treatment for a few days and the cant believe you lied to me lecture!!

One of the reasons I dont own a Impreza anymore as its like a drug I get addicted to throwing money on mods, and for some reason I cant help myself, no matter how many times Ive said Im not modding this one!!!

I have been know to not tell the entire truth about the amount of mods and cost of car parts. My car went to the garage to sort out the knocking from the suspension. My wife knows the garage fixed it for less that £200. Which isn't too bad. However I haven't mentioned the cost of the coilovers which were delivered direct to the garage. ..

Yeah when @Alan Jeffery left the invoices conveniently on the passenger seat after my engine build so I didn't forget to pick them up....

The issue is they were face down and it didn't even cross my mind to see what they were before I picked her up from work to do some running in....

Well obviously she picked up the stack of paper on the seat and I was just so happy to have the car back I didn't notice she had been very quiet for the 20 minute drive home....

When we got home and she handed me the paper the penny dropped as to what was written on it! (It was more than a few quid more than I'd told her it cost)

She raised her eyebrow at me and walked off, then proceeded to reel off a shopping list of everything she needed to buy seeing as i'd spent over 10k on my engine.....

Haw haw haw.

Blokes and their other halves. 'The games'.

It's like having to prepare a meticulously compiled defence for court... And skillfully being able to stick to 'the story'.

Wish mine was understanding like that, she just see's it as a car and Im spending loads on it. When we first got together and I had my first Impreza I spent loads on it and she didnt say anything, as soon as we moved in together thats when she started moaning about prices of parts and telling me its a waste etc

I should have got rid of her then!!! Only joking I have a great family(she standing behind me as I write this)

Same here, my lady says nothing. Sometimes I wish she would just so I could defend my love of cars, or just some input. But never says anything.

Although she does like it when I buy her a new car 😉

I don't know how the hell you guys can spend money the missus doesn't know about. She deals with it and I have no idea at all about the cost of anything, although every so often a new horse arrives! I assume they must be cheap?

But as Brian Blessed's Richard IV in Blackadder would have you believe, you can't underestimate the value of, "...Fresh horseees!!"

That's why you should never own a Ford...as their horses are always out to graze [Grays].

Groan.

I fear you may be correct, if I include the stable block she had built.

What, you expected the mean to be less than 10k? If so, I'm with you.

Also the next highest bracket is 20-50k!

Mind, the sample size is small though.

I've not had mine long so I'm in the 0-1000 category (at the moment). I've been trying to concentrate on the cheaper mods this year like de-tango and de-lexus the headlights. I do have a shopping list that includes Harvey up-pipe, sports cat down pipe, and a remap along with 4 new tyres for the wheels.

Are we counting petrol in the expenditure? If so I think you can get rid of any choice lower than £5k
